Location: Fisantekraal, Cape Farms/Cape Town Salary: Competitive based on experience Reports to: Operations Manager Job Summary: We are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Recyclables Buyer/Scale Operator to join our team in Fisantekraal, Cape Farms, Cape Town.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for purchasing various recyclable materials, such as metals and plastics, at scale.
This role requires a keen understanding of different types of ferrous and non-ferrous, plastics and metals and a commitment to supporting our sustainability goals.
Key Responsibilities: Purchasing: Identify and purchase recyclable materials, including various types of plastics and metals, from suppliers, manufacturers, and other sources.
Ensure cost-effective purchasing while maintaining quality standards.
Material Identification: Accurately identify and classify different types of plastics (e.g., PET, HDPE, PVC) and metals (e.g., aluminum, copper, steel) based on their properties and market value.
Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels of recyclable materials, ensuring optimal stock levels are maintained to meet production and processing needs.
Manage storage and organization of materials to facilitate efficient processing.
Compliance and Sustainability: Ensure all purchasing activities comply with relevant environmental regulations and contribute to the company's sustainability objectives.
Promote environmentally responsible practices within the organization.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of purchases, supplier agreements, and transactions.
Prepare reports on material purchases, inventory levels, and supplier performance for management review.
Qualifications: Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in purchasing or sourcing roles, preferably within the recycling or waste management industry.
Technical Skills: Ability to identify and classify different types of plastics and metals.
Familiarity with recycling processes and market trends in recyclable materials.
Communication Skills: Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively with suppliers, vendors, and internal teams.
Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and inspecting materials, as needed.
Must be comfortable working in a warehouse or outdoor environment.
