Job SpecificationPromote quality throughout by assuring compliance to an effective quality management system.Continuous improvement of processes through the facilitation of problem solving and the process of change management.Development and management of strategic quality and food safety objectives.Promote the importance and benefit of quality and food safety in the operation as the quality and food safety 'conscience.'Identify opportunities for infrastructural GMP improvement initiatives.Identify opportunities for implementation of process, product, material, and equipment improvements to optimize process capability.Championing of QA Module.External AuditingQuality and food safety related training needs are identified and appropriate training provided.Risk awareness, identification, and management in the quality, lab, and food safety environment.Evaluate and liaise with suppliers in terms of their ability to supply raw materials or services at the desired quality level.Liaise with suppliers on quality issues.Management of raw material specifications.Management of Finished Goods SpecificationsIdentify requirements and develop and implement quality and food safety systems, standards, and procedures as required.Maintain Quality and Food Safety Systems and ProceduresMonitor compliance with quality systems (system, GMP, and behavioral auditing) and ensure corrective actions as required.Ensure management of all the prerequisite programs (pest control, etc.).Ensure effective functioning of the food safety team.Manage the customer complaints system.Proactively liaise with key customers on product and service quality issues.Ensure appropriate quality related documentation to customers.Laboratory function is managed professionally.Recipe / works order control.Management of microbiological testing process.Ensure that incoming goods inspection process is correctly managed.Ensure the plant QC processes are managed.Ensure quarantined or reject stock is appropriately managed.Control of verification processes.Ensure adherence to legislation, policies, procedures, and standards.Consistently apply 5S principles.Conduct incident investigations.Promote Awareness and Review PerformanceMonitor and ensure corrective and preventative improvement actions through structured problem solving.Create an environment conducive to innovation and an improvement mindset.Setup effective teams and ensure review of performance.Promote and ensure effective team communication.Conduct management routines.Manage performance of individuals.Manage and ensure training and development of resources.Manage IR Situations and Ensure Positive IR EnvironmentEnsure that all administrative procedures are performed and documents are traceable.Minimum RequirementsBSc Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or Food Science / Food Technology Diploma.Additional Qualifications:Total Quality Management CertificateHACCP CertificateManagement CertificateMinimum of 5-7 years after qualification is obtained.Relevant additional management / specific system training is required.Skills required include attention to detail, leading and managing change, team leadership, interactive communication, client focus, analytical thinking, planning, and organization.KnowledgeHACCPFood TechnologyWorld class manufacturing and quality practices and modelsSpecific product and process knowledgePersonnel and human resources practicesManagement systemsAdministration and managementProblem-solving toolsBudgetsBasic accountingMathematicsOperations managementAudit complianceBCEASkillsQuality management and quality control systems development and implementation in line with best practice.Managing and leading teams towards high performance.QC skills and use of apparatus.Collect, analyze, organize, and critically evaluate information.Conflict handling.Basic accounting principles.Advanced computer skills, budget development, and management.Presentation skills, audits.Administration management.Project management skills, systems analysis.Kindly note that by submitting your application for this career opportunity, you agree that Guardian Recruiting may use your application for the purpose of the recruitment and selection of the said position, and this information may be shared with the relevant stakeholders in the business.Please note that only short-listed candidates will be contacted.Should you not have heard back within a two-week period, please assume that your application was unsuccessful.All job postings are in accordance with our Client's BEE requirements.
