PR professionals create and maintain a positive public perception by working with the media, handling crisis communication, writing press releases, and managing relationships with key stakeholders.
Responsibilities Media Relations: Building and maintaining relationships with journalists, bloggers, and influencers; pitching stories and securing media coverage.Content Creation: Writing press releases, speeches, articles, social media content, and other materials that communicate key messages.Crisis Management: Developing and executing strategies to manage public relations crises, including managing media responses and ensuring consistent messaging.Brand Strategy: Collaborating with marketing and other teams to align public messaging with the brands goals and objectives.Event Planning: Organizing press conferences, product launches, and other events to generate media coverage and engage with stakeholders.Social Media Management: Overseeing the organizations social media presence, creating content, and responding to public inquiries or concerns.Monitoring Public Opinion: Tracking media coverage, public sentiment, and industry trends to adjust PR strategies as needed.RequirementsA degree in public relations, communications, journalism, or related fields.Must not have taken part in the YES Program before.South African unemployed youth aged between 18 and 34.
