We are looking for an experienced Professional Structural Engineer for our Cape Town based client. The ideal candidate should be able to design and sign off buildings and to lead the research and development team. He/she will be responsible for the structural design and implementation of the organization's technology from an engineering perspective into ongoing projects, including the sign off of designs and site inspections during construction, and for the constant further development of the Organization's building technology including the leading of the client's in-house laboratory.Role Description:Management and supervision of the following 3 divisions within EngineeringStructural Design - Design and Sign off:South Africa: All stages of design (1-6), including sign-off building plans and occupational certificate.International: Collaborate with local professional engineers to design and sign off Organization's buildings.Research & Development:In collaboration with Exco defining the R&D Agenda for the next 24 months.Owning and managing the R&D Agenda where related to the building system, including but not limited to:Designing new systems.Testing of new systems in our own laboratory or external laboratories where needed.Getting certification of new systems where applicable.Monitoring of the technologies developed by other stakeholders (universities, competitors, etc.).Protection of Intellectual Property.SHEQ:Quality: Owning all aspects of the quality management system related to construction, including building up of a remote quality monitoring system.Health & Safety & Environment: Owning all aspects of the OHS and Environmental compliance of Organisation's operations.General and Admin:Building of a suitable team strong enough to carry the workload (currently over 800 units in planning in South Africa, the US, and Switzerland with a number of further countries with leads).Regular reporting to the CEO and board of directors.Required Qualifications and Experience:Bachelors or Master degree in structural engineering or equivalent.10 years experience as structural engineer.Experience with alternative construction methods is an advantage.Experience with FEM is an advantage.Excellent project management and communication skills.Highly motivated and attention to detail.Willingness to get your hands dirty at times.Keen on leading an international team of professionals.If you meet the above requirements and are interested in this exciting opportunity, you can apply through this job post or send your latest CV to ****** look forward to hearing from you.
