Key Responsibilities:Refer to the production plan to ensure all the relevant raw materials are available prior to commencing the coating process.Set up the equipment manually to ensure the coating process adheres to all the specifications and the equipment functions effectively.Start-up and operate the coating machine according to the standard operating procedures to ensure the coating process is applied correctly and the effective machine utilisation (EMU) targets are achieved.Perform all the daily safety checks on the equipment to ensure all safety features are functioning properly, preventing injuries to people and damage to equipment and products.Perform the relevant daily equipment inspections to ensure equipment functions effectively and any abnormalities are identified and reported timeously to be addressed during maintenance days to reduce downtime, equipment deterioration, and breakdowns.Clean equipment to ensure causes of contamination are identified and eliminated, allowing for easy detection of abnormalities to prevent product contamination.Assist the fitters during maintenance days and unplanned maintenance to perform minor maintenance tasks such as replacing covers and parts, resetting machine timings, and tightening nuts and bolts to minimise downtime and further develop own knowledge and skills.Perform visual inspections to identify, remove, and isolate defective plates.Perform the film weight checks to ensure the relevant coating materials adhere to the quality parameters, specifications, standards, and customer requirements prior to commencing the coating process.Record the results of the quality checks in the quality control charts to monitor the coating process against the quality specifications for quality assurance, referencing, and traceability purposes.Perform the daily work routines in accordance with the operational excellence requirements, processes, and tools.Take operational ownership (See-It, Own-It, Solve It and Do-It Culture).Qualifications:MatricSuccessful completion of the Production Mechanic learnership or an N3 mechanical qualification2 – 3 years' experience in a manufacturing environment
