Key Requirements:Managing factory employees (approx. 30 people).Production planning in each department and ensuring adequate scheduling of staff. Monitor and manage time and motion of factory employees.Ensuring every job is completed on time and in full with all quality standards met.Ensuring production equipment is working properly and maintained.Ensuring standard operating procedures are adhered to at all times and/or developing new standard operating procedures. Ensuring all staff is trained and to orgainise training when and if needed.Ensure al Health and Safety regulations are met and in line with South African legislation.Regularly presenting feedback to management on all issues related to production managers role. Ensuring there is responsible waste control. Establishing a balance between increased productivity and reduced costs of manufacturing operations.Setting productivity goals for each manufacturing team. Developing workflow policies and procedures that improve efficiency without compromising safety or quality.Managing the various teams in the factory i.e., CNC, Perspex, Metal etc., Liaising with Project managers and Rigging managers regarding production and installations.Management of the companys production and fabrication processes including review of the issued specifications, bill of quantities, drawings, time schedules and works instructions and if changes are required making the necessary proposals. Manage the materials, manpower and equipment to effectively meet the required delivery times, quality standards and cost parameters to meet the objectives of the company and its clients.Monitor (measure) that all the project timelines are being met on a daily basis. The quality of the products and components manufactured are at acceptable quality standards on a daily basis and which are to be defined and communicated to staff on the shop floor.Quality & Costs Management all product and work produced is at the targeted quality and waste/ is minimized, as are reworks, at all times. Costs are maintained at or below the target. On Time Delivery Targets that targets are met in full all of the time and supervisors and staff are managed on the productivity and time & attendance targets. Health & Safety Parameters that all safety requirements are in place and met including the documentation i.e. the workplace must be safe at all times.Equipment Condition all equipment and tools are maintained on an asset register and maintenance schedule to continuous availability of the equipment, weekly equipment and tool condition review per checklist.Maintenance schedule of all tools and machinery. Waste & Housekeeping The factory and premises are neat & tidy at all times and that waste is categorized and place in the designated containers for disposal and or recovery as the case maybe from time to time. Daily communication and planning review with shop floor is a key component of effectively manage the performance of staff to meet targets.Manpower management is a critical function and requires the daily review and weekly reporting of time and attendance of departmental staff, output of staff measured against the delivery schedules and quality standards including a zero tolerance of reworks. Request and obtain freight quotations for shipping to storage or direct to site, place order with purchasing and then organize collection by the relevant rigging team for installation on the scheduled dates. Check and optimise the cost of freight with optimum loading and shipping of jobs to sites within proximity of one another on a case-by-case basis. Liaison and discussion with rigging & service manager of target dates for delivery of products and sharing of product and installation information.Skills:Strong commitment to service delivery including meeting the project deadlines, quality standards and cost estimates.Must have the ability to take and follow through on corrective action required by staff including coaching and or disciplinary action as man be required under the circumstances.A zero tolerance for non-performance by staff is a critical success factor in this position in order to maintain the output levels of the operation.Ability to take and follow through on corrective action required by staff including coaching and or disciplinary action as man be required under the circumstances.Ability to communicate and motivate staff is a critical to the successful operation of the production process.Strong focus on the technical and production work instructions are followed on a daily basis.Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:Qualification in Production and Process management at NQF Level.10 years in an Operational Managerial role.Preferably a job shop operation and also having applied the principles of project management. Excellent computer skills Microsoft office, Excel Word, etc. Handling schedules, materials, manpower and the ability to deliver the performance.Knowledge of effective task allocation and scheduling to meet quality standards and delivery targets.A working knowledge of the applicable labour legislation and the execution thereof in the factory environment.Experience in the use of information technology (computer) for administration and feedback is a critical success factor.
