This role requires a system-oriented leader with a proven track record of implementing processes that deliver a strong return on investment.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the machinery typically used in a manufacturing environment, including CNC programming, as well as scheduling machine maintenance and repairs.
This position calls for a hands-on approach; the manager will be expected to work closely with the team on the factory floor, identifying areas for improvement and actively assisting in daily operations.
With an experienced and skilled team already in place, the focus will be on driving efficiencies, enhancing processes, and addressing any production challenges with innovative solutions to take the division to the next levelMinimum Requirements:Grade 12Relevant Diploma/ Degree in Engineering or Production/Operations Management would be advantageousMinimum of 10 years' experience in a manufacturing environment of which a minimuof 5 years' experience in a management roleDeep understanding of Manufacturing environment machineryBe able to programme CNC MachinesSound experience understanding the production process and function and applying continuous improvement processesUnwavering focus on delivering results and problem-solvingStrong analytical and decision-making skillsStrong people management and leadership skillsAbility to prioritise and manage multiple projects simultaneouslyKnowledge of safety and environmental regulationsThis is a full-time position which entails a minimum of 40 hours per weekThe Production Manager works in a fast-paced environment that requires considerable multitaskingShift work may be necessary due to operational requirementsOwn transport & valid driver's licenseDuties and Responsibilities:ProductionManage production process to achieve targets most efficiently and cost-effectively.This includes optimizing production processes, reducing waste, and minimizing downtime.
Set goals, objectives, and standards of measurement for the factory.Meet delivery dates (OTIF) and communicate with planningProduct Design and DevelopmentOversee the design team through the new product development process, ensuring compatibility with production methods and product quality and durabilityDrive timelines and follow up on outsourced components.
Ensure that prototypes are delivered to requested specificationsEnsure that models, shop drawings, bill of materials and CNC programs are updated and reflect the finished productCheck and approve product costingQuality ControlEnsuring that the products manufactured meet the required quality standardsMonitor and maintain quality control measures throughout the production processAddress and resolve any quality issues promptlyPlantResponsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the factoryThis includes managing inventory, scheduling maintenance and repairs, and ensuring that all equipment is functioning optimallyInvestigate, ev ments for cost benefit and suitability aluate, and recommend capex requirements for cost benefit and suitabilityFinancialIn collaboration with CEO, CFO and Financial Accountant set and manage budgets, financial goals, and monitor financial performanceThis includes analysing production costs, identifying areas for cost savings, and making strategic financial decisions to improve overall profitabilityStaff ManagementManaging and leading the team of employees in the factory.
