The Big Picture: Howden South Africa Division is looking for an experienced Production Engineer to take responsibility for managing the Element Line, ensuring production targets and delivery dates are met, and maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be… Instil a safety-first culture in the Booysens Manufacturing facility. Manage all production activities within the Element Line Manufacturing area. Oversee and provide guidance to supervisors, ensuring cohesive and efficient operations. Review and update all staff's hours daily/weekly for payroll as well as check and approve daily hours recovered to Production Jobs in the ERP system (Microsoft AX). Compile and issue job packs to production including developing and updating progress reports. Develop and implement production plans and schedules. Ensure that production targets and delivery dates are consistently met. Update Production sheets daily. Understand and optimize workflow processes to improve efficiency, productivity and safety. Co-ordinate with Project Managers for delivery arrangements of finished products to client's site. Resolve staff, safety, technical, and quality issues promptly. Implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence and maintain continuous improvement. Manage work-in-progress to avoid production delays. Be involved and support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency and quality. Implement best practices and innovative solutions to optimize production processes. Monitor production equipment and processes to ensure minimal downtime. Schedule and oversee preventive maintenance. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards. Conduct regular safety and quality audits to identify areas for improvement. Your Education Should Be… B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Production Management qualification is advantageous. Your Professional Experience Should Be… Minimum of 5 - 8 years' experience in production management within a heavy manufacturing environment. Proven track record of managing multiple production areas and leading teams. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment in Steel Manufacturing. Proficient in MS Office suite.
