A reputable Heavy metal and mining company in Cape Town is looking to employ a Process Engineer. The Process Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing industrial processes and equipment. The role includes evaluating and improving the efficiency of existing processes, managing projects from concept through commissioning, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.Key Responsibilities:Process Design and Development:Develop and design processes for new and existing products and equipment, focusing on efficiency, safety, and sustainability.Create detailed process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for proposed process changes.Process Optimization:Analyse and monitor current processes, identifying areas for improvement to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.Implement process control strategies and troubleshooting techniques to optimize production.Project Management:Lead and manage projects from design through to commissioning, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.Coordinate with cross-functional teams including design, production, and quality control to ensure project success.Ensure projects comply with all relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.Technical Support:Provide technical support and expertise to production teams, troubleshooting issues and recommending solutions.Collaborate with equipment suppliers, contractors, and internal teams to ensure the successful installation and commissioning of new equipment.Documentation and Reporting:Maintain accurate records of process designs, modifications, and performance data.Prepare and present detailed technical reports and proposals to management and clients.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related field.Proven experience (3-5 years) in process engineering, preferably in mining, mineral processing, or a similar industry.Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, METSIM) and CAD software.Strong understanding of process control systems and instrumentation.Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead and work within a multidisciplinary team.Good communication and interpersonal skills.Experience with crushing and milling processes.Knowledge of environmental and safety regulations relevant to the industry.Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles or Six Sigma methodology.
