The Flexographic Print Manager is responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of the flexographic printing department, ensuring optimal print quality, machine performance, and adherence to safety and operational standards.
The role involves managing the print team, optimizing production schedules, maintaining print equipment, and ensuring customer specifications are met while controlling costs and minimizing waste.
Minimum requirements: Bachelors degree or diploma in Printing Technology, or a related field is preferred.
Qualified print minder will be advantageous.A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in flexographic printing, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or management role.Certification in flexographic printing or relevant technical courses (optional but advantageous). Key Responsibilities: 1.
Supervision & Management:
Lead and manage a team of flexographic print supervisors, press operators and support staff.Schedule and assign print jobs based on production requirements and deadlines.Provide training and development for team members to improve efficiency and skills.2.
Production Management:
Plan, organize, and oversee the entire flexographic printing process, ensuring on-time completion of production runs.Monitor and maintain the print schedule to meet customer delivery dates.Ensure production efficiency by minimizing waste and downtime.Analyze and resolve any technical issues related to printing, color management, or machine performance.3.
Quality Control:
Maintain high standards of print quality, ensuring that all prints meet or exceed customer expectations.Perform quality checks throughout the print process, ensuring accuracy in color matching, registration, and material specifications.Troubleshoot quality issues and implement corrective actions to avoid reprints or customer complaints.4.
Machine Operation & Maintenance:
Oversee the setup and operation of flexographic printing presses.Ensure all machines are properly maintained and kept in good working condition, coordinating preventive maintenance and repairs as needed.Monitor machine performance, identify potential breakdowns, and take steps to minimize machine downtime.5.
Inventory & Supply Management:
Manage the inventory of printing materials, including inks, plates, substrates, and other consumables.Work with suppliers to maintain stock levels, negotiate pricing, and ensure the timely delivery of materials.Implement cost-saving measures by optimizing the use of materials and reducing wastage.6.
Health & Safety Compliance:
Ensure that all staff follows safety protocols, and that the workplace adheres to regulatory safety standards.Conduct regular safety audits and implement measures to reduce risks related to the printing process.7.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify areas of improvement within the print process and implement strategies for enhancing efficiency, reducing costs, and improving quality.Stay updated on industry trends, new equipment, and printing technologies, and recommend or implement upgrades when beneficial.
