Role Purpose/Business Unit:
Responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive monitoring plan for Vodacom Financial and Digital Services covering all divisions including Insurance, Payments, Lending & Wealth.
With the launch of the payment's products transaction monitoring is a key focus – therefore there needs to be risk based transaction limits put in place to flag transactions outside of the norm.
This role also includes ensuring that the necessary governance controls are in place with existing outsourced providers and ensure that there is sufficient due diligence conducted on the on-boarding of suppliers and merchants across all divisions.
Your responsibilities will include:
Establish monitoring strategy and framework for Vodacom Financial Services.
Establish a risk based due diligence process for onboarding of merchants and suppliers. Adhoc checks and balances post implementation to ensure that there is proper oversight of all outsourced providers.
Engage with the risk and compliance specialists across the VFS business to conduct deep dives within the business areas in order to formulate a risk-based monitoring plan to assess adequacy and effectiveness of regulatory and policy controls within each area.
Conducting the monitoring exercises in accordance with the monitoring plan, recording findings and action plans, preparing reports to be submitted to the business, which include recommendations for improvements where gaps are identified.
Provide second line of defence assurance to the business on processes and highlight areas of risk with proposed risk mitigation controls.
Establishing a risk matrix in order to rate or grade the outcomes of the monitoring exercise.
Where outsourced partners are involved have a separate monitoring strategy to ensure that outsourced partners comply with Vodacom standards and regulatory requirements.
Perform necessary due diligence checks on new suppliers.
Monitor threshold limits on payments as developed by the business to ensure that transactions which fall outside of the range are flagged and escalated.
Responsible for facilitating suspicious transaction reporting to FIC where required.
Act as a Policy champion/SPOC for Group policies relevant to the Monitoring and Governance function, driving control embedment throughout Vodacom Financial and Digital Services.
Any other duties as may be assigned by the EHoD: Regulatory, Risk and Compliance from time to time.
Stakeholder management
Engage internally with the EHODS/MEs of each business unit ie. Insurance, Payments, Lending and Wealth.
Engaging with other assurance provider (2nd and 3rd line of defense) and contributing towards the combined assurance plan.
Liaise with External Regulatory Stakeholders ie. Various Ombuds, FIC, FSCA, PA, NCR etc.
Liaise with internal and external audit
Assist in the implementation of the compliance training and awareness program
Assist management to create a compliance culture and with embedding compliance principles, values and sound business practice into existing training mediums.
Assist management to create new mediums of communication to enhance compliance awareness and knowledge within the company.
Assessing the risk of changes to Regulatory Environment
Identify and track changes to existing and new laws and update monitoring plans to accommodate such changes.
The Ideal Candidate for this role will have:
Must have technical / professional qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree is desirable, and a master's degree will be an added advantage
Minimum of 8 years' experience in a legal and/or regulatory role preferably in a financial services company or a fintech.
Specific experience in dealing with Insurance Regulators, Lending and Payments Association of South Africa (PASA).
