Skills/ Experience/ Education:
Minimum Grade 12
Certification in MS Projects with extensive experience.
Certification in Primavera P6 with extensive experience.
Knowledge of Project Management Practices and Principles.
NEC contract course certification.
FIDIC contract course certification.
Certification related to Construction Claims.
Excellent understanding of the construction environment specifically related to the Petro-Chemical, Mining, Wastewater Treatment, and Paper and Pulp Industries.
Extended experience in Mechanical, Piping & Structural Steel Fabrication and Erection methodology.
Minimum of 18 years' experience in the Planning Department, of which 7 must be in a Managerial position.
Strong verbal and written communication proficiency.
Excellent proficiency in mathematics.
Excellent attention to detail.
Deadline driven and prepared to work extended hours when required.
Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize own workload.
Responsibilities:
Actively implement and oversee the structured planning procedure in accordance with the company Project Planning and Control guidelines.
Responsible for the compilation of the project planning strategy in conjunction with the Contract Manager.
Produce programmes which define all work to be carried out in accordance with company procedures.
Scrutinize and approve all sub-contractor programmes on a project.
Ensure the compatibility of programmes regarding key dates, information requirements, lead times, discipline interfaces, etc.
Develop programmes for issue to clients, vendors, and sub-contractors.
Monitor the progress against all project programmes at intervals.
Undertake program analysis to establish critical activities, key dates, resource requirements, etc.
Continuously evaluate the impact of queries, delays, and scope changes on the project program.
Evaluate the impact of deviations from and changes to the program.
Obtain information regarding work to be performed from all disciplines and suppliers on the project.
Attend site/sub-contract/contract meetings as agreed with the Contract Manager.
Interpret status of and trends on the project and report the true status to the Project Team and company management.
Produce S-Curves, manpower, progress, extension of time, and acceleration reports as per the contract program.
Setup of planning structure for site installation.
Assist site management with revision and acceleration scheduling.
Interface between clients and main contractors/site/office base management.
Development of baseline and detail programs for Electrical and Instrumentation / Mechanical & Piping.
Manage Site Project Planners as per Company standard requirements.
Advise on resources used, budget, forecast requirements, and monthly reporting to Project Managers and Project Director.
Development of site on contract requirements for planning, costing, and claims.
Training of Junior Planners.
Liaise with Estimating Department and Procurement Department as required.
Prepare information for handover to the contract team on secured projects.
