As a Pilot Plant ManagerYou will play a crucial role in overseeing the operations and management of our state-of-the-art facility dedicated to testing and developing new processes and products.Duties & ResponsibilitiesUtilize butchery/meat processing background to oversee a variety of products including cold meats, processed products, fresh products, cured products, etc.Manage hygiene and sanitation practices to ensure compliance with industry standards.Lead and mentor a small team, providing guidance and support.Hands-on involvement in product manufacturing and project management.Conduct regular stock takes of raw materials and spare parts, maintaining accurate records of inventory.Coordinate with other sites to track spare parts usage and manage orders accordingly.Supervise staff in the Technical Innovation Center (TIC) and ensure smooth operation of equipment.Place orders and create order numbers using our Unity system.Prepare the TIC for product demonstrations and trials.Oversee all activities within the TIC, ensuring efficiency and adherence to safety protocols.Desired Experience & QualificationExperience:Previous experience managing a butchery with a focus on cold meats and processed products is essential.Strong background in hygiene and sanitation practices.Demonstrated ability to manage a small team effectively.Physically capable of both manufacturing products on odd occasions and managing projects.Experience with stock take procedures and inventory management.Familiarity with order placement systems, preferably Unity.Excellent organizational and communication skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.Interested?Freddy Hirsch is committed to the principles of the Employment Equity Act, and preference will be given to candidates aligned with the business' EE targets and goals.Note: If you have not received a response within two weeks, please consider your application unsuccessful.
