We are looking for a Parts Storeman to join our company The purpose of this position is to control the movement of stock in and out of the warehouse and to ensure that the stock totals are always correct Key Performance Areas: To perform this job successfully, the appointed individual must be able to perform each essential duty / key performance area satisfactorily. This list of key performance areas is not exhaustive and may be changed / supplemented to accommodate business needs from time to time: Receive and count stock items, and accurately record data Accurate packing and unpacking of items to be stocked on shelves in stockrooms, warehouses or storage yards Accurate picking of orders according to computer generated workshop requisitioning picking slips and customer invoices Prompt delivery of picked parts to the despatch hatch/counter/gate; signing of picking requisition as responsible picker Assist with daily perpetual stock counts Verify inventories by comparing them to physical counts of stock and to investigate and resolve discrepancies / adjust errors Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in the warehouse/supply rooms/storage yard or other designated area(s) Mark stock items correctly by using appropriate labelling Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment and storage areas in order to ensure compliance with ASEC & OHSACT regulations Determine proper storage methods, identification and stock locations based on turnover, environmental factors and physical capabilities of the facilities Keep records on the use and/or damage of stock or stock handling equipment Examine and inspect stock items for wear or defects, reporting any damage to the supervisor / manager Examine and inspect security of stockroom/warehouse/storage yard and report any abnormality to the supervisor / manager Responsible to ensure quality of customer interaction and service is exceeding internal and external customer expectations; ensure communication / feedback to customers are prompt and correct Shared responsibility and accountability with warehouse team for stock discrepancies Participation in team/department meetings and development/training initiatives to ensure that Parts Warehouse functions as an efficient resource for the company by continuously evaluating and monitoring quality and accuracy of work, implementing and actively participating in Investors In People in line with company strategic objectives, ensure effective inter-departmental and internal communication Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills Education / Training and Experience Requirement(s): Minimum qualification of Matric minimum of 2 years work experience in a Warehouse environment Dedication to service excellence in every aspect of work carried out; strong focus on attention to detail and accuracy – must be thorough and careful about detail in completion of tasks Excellent communication skills with people at all levels in an organisation – must be able to converse fluently and comfortably in English; must be able to read and write English Ability to work with little or no supervision; ability to manage own time and still complete tasks timeously; ability to work according to a set schedule; enthusiastic, self-motivated and can use own initiative Ability to work under pressure Ability to receive constructive criticism Maintain work area in clean and orderly condition Ability to understand and follow safety measures and precautions Ability to function effectively in a group and add value to the team / environment; ability to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintain it over a period of time Work Styles: Cooperation (being pleasant with others on the job and displaying a good natured, cooperative attitude) Self-control (maintaining composure, keeping emotions in check, controlling anger and avoiding aggressive behaviors, even in very difficult circumstances) Persistence in the face of obstacles Initiative (willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges) Positive social orientation (a preference to work with others rather than alone and being personally connected with others on the job) Integrity (excellent work ethic – honest, reliable, hardworking, dedicated and takes pride in work carried out; must be a responsible and dependable individual) Highly developed prioritizing and multi-tasking skills; strong sense of urgency; problem solving and decision-making skills Must be of sober habits, have high energy levels and general good health – must be declared fit for physical performance requirements of these tasks - physically able to carry, lift, and move heavy objects; must be able to stand and sit for long periods of time; must be able to bend, stretch, twist and reach with body, arms and/or legs.
