Qualifications / Requirements:
• Relevant operations management experience in the logistics/transportation industry
• Stable job record with good, contactable references
• Own reliable transport and valid drivers license
• Strong, assertive, resilient disposition and exceptional communication skills essential
Key Performance Areas:
• Release vehicles to be ready to accept loads as soon as possible
• Driving of productivity
• Customer resolution
• Staff management and discipline
• Advise marketing in where vehicles are/will be available by which time each day
• Collect loads from customer and ensure all paperwork and specific instructions are with the relevant Driver
• Ensure Fleet Controller has photographs of each load
• Prepare route schedule with the relevant Fleet Controller
• Follow up with Controllers as to Driver and vehicle progress
• Problem solve where vehicles fall outside of schedule and make alternative arrangements to achieve acceptable turnaround times
• Chase up vehicles with urgent loads – arrange double Drivers with HR
• Review daily, vehicle trips in line with schedules
• Review daily, Driver behaviour and driving scoring
• Manage offload of vehicles to achieve the best turnaround times
• Ensure the Controller has instructed the Driver to collect all paperwork and that no endorsements have been made
• Should there be endorsements, sort out with customer before vehicle leaves their premises
• Manage servicing and licensing requirements in terms of ensuring trucks/vehciles make it to depot to conform, on time
• Manage Controllers and Drivers time efficiently
• Problem solve, investigate and handle all discrepancies with staff and customers
