Purpose of the role: To effectively manage all Screening Media operations activities by giving direction to all employees by establishing and implementing the strategic direction and action plans, which include managing activities in accordance with company strategy, goals, and objectives.As Operations Manager - Screening Media, you will oversee and direct the local EHS function and related employees by establishing and implementing the strategic direction and action plans, which include managing activities in accordance with company strategy, goals, and objectives.The job responsibilities: Be responsible for planning and development of strategic screening media supply capabilities in terms of facilities, equipment, and staffing.Secure proper reporting and development of KPIs and targets in accordance with the strategy.Ensure all manufacturing processes and operations are in line with Sandvik group standards and directives, and secure and implement plans to achieve supply goals.Be responsible to meet current and future human resource needs, actively assess, recruit, and develop workforce, and ensure that the employees are highly motivated and act in line with Sandvik's Core Values.Strive for improvements in all we do and strengthen knowledge and skills through continuous education on advancements in screening media manufacturing, leadership management concepts, and theory from both an individual and organizational perspective.Establish a strong leadership culture with an engaged team and clear succession planning.Ensure that employees plan, schedule, and monitor the daily and ongoing screening media manufacturing.Ensure that employees plan and request raw material requirements in line with production orders.Implement production process and lead time reduction measures for screening media operations.Implement the design and testing of new concepts to improve manufacturing processes.Support team to improve manufacturing process, ramping up new molds and considering new technology or innovation.Ensure that quality checks are performed at customer sites with standard inspection methods.Implement and oversee tool maintenance and stocktaking process.Drive improvement on manufacturing processes, efficiencies, and quality of screening media and related components.Ensure best maintenance practices are followed on screening media equipment and machinery and ensure equipment is in good working order and safe to use.Coach and guide managers and supervisors on job procedures.Communicate effectively with employees.Ensure employees are motivated and working efficiently.Maintain discipline in the working area to avoid non-professional activities being carried in and around the workplace.Ensure all housekeeping is up to standard and free of hazards.Ensure all staff abide by H&S requirements including the use of appropriate PPE where and when required.Ensure workers follow safe work practices.Conduct continuous risk assessments to ensure a safe workshop environment.Ensure only authorized, adequately trained operators operate the equipment.Responsible for operating within the health and safety requirements as prescribed by the Company and OHS Act.Qualifications & Experience Requirements: Grade 12 certificate or N3 Mechanical.Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering Diploma.Management or other relevant training/courses.Minimum 5 - 10 years of managerial experience in a similar field.Substantial experience within the injection molding and polyurethane molding industry.Experience in continuous improvement in an engineering environment.Other Requirements & Competencies: Computer Literacy – Microsoft Office.Basic understanding of screening media products.Must be flexible and self-reliant.Sound judgment.Problem-solving ability.Understanding the importance of time management.Listening and logic interpretation.Follow-through ability to complete tasks.Ability to work under pressure.Accuracy.Strong technical understanding of how injection and casted parts are manufactured.Awareness of health and safety requirements.Ability to work independently and in a team.Good eye/hand coordination.Ability to meet deadlines in a high workload environment.The role is based in Johannesburg.
