Our client a progressive Citrus grower and packer in the Sundays River Valley (Eastern Cape) has the following career opportunity available. OPERATIONS MANAGER (Citrus Packaging) The incumbent will, through general management and direct strategic input, ensure that the highly technological, automated and labour intensive packing/packaging facilities comply to all short, medium and long term requirements in order to execute the integrated marketing plans. These integrated marketing plans are very specific in dictating client specifications, quality assurance, food safety standards, packing regimes and protocols, traceability systems, etc. The packing/packaging units function as independent operating and profit centers. The infrastructure is relatively new, but well established. Overall input regarding optimization of all resources, capacities and costs are critical performance areas. Continuous planning regarding operational matters is an integral part of the position. Minimum requirements: tertiary qualification in Management Sciences or Industrial- / Mechanical Engineering proven and relevant managerial experience in fruit/food packaging industry (FMCG) excellent organizational and coordination skills excellent leadership qualities ability to proactively negotiate, function and settle matters effectively well skilled in utilizing and applying modern communication and information technology. The appointee whom reports directly to the Managing Director will have the ability to think and act in a very structured manner due to the complexity of this function.
