REPORTING TO: Accountable Manager (AOC)
LOCATION: Durban
Starlite Aviation Operations (Pty) Ltd has a requirement for a resilient, strong and organised professional to fill this position in
Durban within the Starlite Group.
The Operations General Manager (OGM) will support the companys Directors and have full responsibility for the day to day running of SAOs AOC General Operations Department. The OGM will have overall supervision of base operations for both helicopter and fixed wing deployments (including oversight travel from time to time), control of the personnel required to support operations, budgetary supervision for contracts as well as responsibility for ensuring that all operational systems are in place and functioning effectively to ensure compliance with all Aviation Regulations as applicable, Industry best practice and Client requirements.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure that all Operational systems are in place and functioning effectively, including Logistics and Supply Chain / Communication / Infrastructure and Facilities. Amending and implementing Base Operations Policies and Procedures to ensure Starlites continued compliance with revised and new Aviation Operations regulations and best practices.Continuously improve and develop the Scope of Services and Contract capabilities and ensure implementation to meet market requirements and contract Service Level Agreements. Set up of facilities, approvals as required by the company from time to time.Ensure total compliance with the Companys QSMS and HSE Systems (general operations).Ensure company general management standards are fit for each contract and complies with contract requirements. This includes Liaison Officers, Regional Managers, Logistics and Finance personnel on bases. Travelling duties as required from time to time for contact with company/group contracts.Manage the General Operations Team, including Head Office and those in the field. Active contributor to the business planning and budgeting processes.
REQUIREMENTS:
Administrative skills.Ability to analyse helicopter and fixed wing contract needs.Thorough understanding of Civil Aviation Regulations. Good understanding of International Aviation Regulations.Exposure to Quality and Safety compliance and audits.Excellent interpersonal skills with the confidence to influence all internal stakeholders and external bodies recognising cultural, legal and regional diversity.Strong Leadership and Management Skills.
QUALIFICATIONS AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The following list of qualifications is essential to fill the position:
General Management Diploma/Degree or extensive aviation management / administration experience.Quality and Safety Certification (advantageous).Budgetary experience.+- 3 years extensive contract compliance and administrative experience.+- 3 years aviation operations supervisory experience over several locations and aircraft types with comprehensive understanding of key business drivers from both an operational and commercial perspective.
