Details of the offer

OFM radio station requires the services of radio news bulletin compilers and readers, proficient in writing and reading bulletins in Afrikaans and English for a commercial radio format. The successful candidates will form part of OFM's newsroom in the Bloemfontein office and report to the news Editor as well as Programme Manager. These positions will be contracted to weekday and weekend shifts as required by the programming schedule and communicated with potential candidates. The ideal candidates have an exceptional grasp of current affairs, general knowledge and understanding of OFM's broadcast footprint, superb broadcast news writing skills and eloquent delivery, can follow direction, and work well independently.
Requirements: Relevant tertiary qualification in journalism, communication, or language studies, and at least 3 years' relevant experience in a newsroom.
Duties: Prepare news bulletins in required format according to OFM style guide and broadcast licence requirements.Rewrite news articles and edit audio clips to fit format and allotted time of news items for news cast.Read news bulletins in English and Afrikaans according to required OFM schedule.Assign journalists to follow up on news stories.Capture news coverage statistics and other assigned administrative duties.Create and publish news items on digital platforms when required.Personal attributes: Up to date on latest news happenings locally, nationally and abroad.Knowledge of governance, politics, economics, history, science and pop culture.Able to work under extreme pressure and adhere to tight deadlines.Focused and output orientated.Good researcher with fact checking skills.Excellent planning and curation skills.Flexible and adaptable to change.Multi-media and tech savvy and willing to learn new programmes, applications and skills.Good interpersonal skills and able to work well in a team.About us: Central Media Group is Central South Africa's leading media and entertainment company, specialising in broadcasting, digital media and publishing.
