Job PurposeThis post is in line with the New Generation of Academics Programme (nGAP), part of the Staffing South Africa's Universities Framework (SSAUF) response towards addressing challenges in the South African Higher Education system. The SSAUF intends to identify and nurture academic talent early in the academic development trajectory and support newly recruited academics to develop teaching expertise and research skills.
The purpose of this post is for the candidate to lecture at Diploma, Advanced Diploma, and Postgraduate Diploma in Visual Communication Design with excellent skill in the entire Adobe suite of software.
Job Knowledge, Skills and ExperienceMaster's degree in Visual Communication Design or Graphic DesignBe 40 years or youngerThe candidate must be registered or prepared to register for a Doctoral degree.RecommendationsAt least 1 year working experience either in industry or teaching at a tertiary institution.
Important NoticeIf not yet registered for a Doctoral degree, the successful candidate must commit to registering for a Doctoral degree within 3 months of taking up the nGAP appointment and to completing the Doctorate within 5 years of appointment.
Key Performance Areas / Principal AccountabilitiesParticipation in all components of the nGAP development programme during the first six (6) years of employmentTeach subjects at Diploma and Advanced Diploma as required in the programmePerform appropriate academic and administrative duties in the departmentPerform student assessmentParticipate in research activitiesParticipate in the Quality Assurance activities of the DepartmentParticipate in work integrated learning and student visitationsDevelop and maintain linkages with industry, professional bodies, and local and international institutions of higher educationAssist with marketing and recruitment activitiesPerform other functions as may be assigned by the Head of DepartmentExcellent organizational and planning skillsTechnical/Professional Knowledge and skillsGood Interpersonal skillsContinuous learningStrong learner focusCommunication and coaching skillsProficiency in EnglishGeneral InformationClosing Date: 01 December 2024
