Job DescriptionCity of Tshwane Metropolitan MunicipalityResponsibilitiesPlan and draw-up an annual technical business plan.Present national technical strategy recommendations to the board of directors for approval.Manage execution process of technical strategy as instructed by the board of directors.Review current tyre strategy and make recommendations for longer-term solutions.Refurbishment planning.Management of units.Manage cent per kilometer of complete fleet.Identify and ensure the effective implementation of technical campaigns to achieve strategic goals.Review and approve technical priorities with senior technical personnel weekly.Assist with buying and sign-off of new fleet additions and selling of old fleet.Ensure new coaches meet company standards prior to commissioning.Ensure sold coaches are in acceptable condition for the buyer.Ensure compliance of vehicle fitness for the entire fleet.Ensure Certificate of Fitness tests are done timely for the entire fleet.Ensure all buses are presentable and cleaned as per instructions.Ensure servicing schedules for the entire fleet are executed according to company policies.Ensure proper control over national company equipment and tools in workshops.Review monthly reports on equipment and tools of all technical workshops.Determine, replace, and repair strategy.Compile national technical budget and implement financial control measures.Manage workshop fixed assets (e.g., tools, jacks).Manage fleet maintenance – parts, units, windows, tyres, lubricants, trailers.Manage traveling and accommodation.Manage small and major accidents.Manage refurbishments budget.Manage non-revenue vehicles.Ensure efficient budget management.Utilize MOVE system effectively.Manage variance on the technical budget.Ensure all warranty claims are processed.Analyze and sign-off on MOVE warranties report.Negotiate optimal warranty fees from suppliers.Provide monthly budget analysis and reports at meetings.Ensure the Technical division meets Operational division's needs.Ensure quality control of the total Intercape fleet.Conduct daily inspections and engage with fleet.Provide advice and assistance in technical maintenance.Offer alternative solutions to technical problems.Manage the Technical Division.Identify and plan for future workforce needs.Manage salary and overtime budget.Ensure effective leave management.Review optimal rostering of staff.Manage staff discipline process.Provide advice and assistance to direct reports daily.Conduct monthly performance assessments and feedback.Maintain divisional staff morale.Conduct weekly toolbox meetings.Hold quarterly strategic meetings with senior management.Inspire positive energy among technical staff.Conduct regular depot visits to resolve issues.Ensure staff development according to company strategy.Assist HC department in recruiting quality employees.Support communication regarding project needs.Act as a leader and mentor to peers and subordinates.Ensure effective communication between technical employees and management.Provide daily feedback in morning conferences.Draw-up technical policies in collaboration with stakeholders.Communicate policies and procedures to stakeholders.Manage technical policies and procedures effectively.Coordinate equipment replacement policy.Conduct market research for equipment replacement policy.Ensure daily reporting by senior technical management.Conduct depot visits and provide feedback to management.Provide intelligence for decision-making in operational and technical environments.Ensure adherence to procurement policies.Report on all technical aspects to management.Maintain regular communication with COO and management.Assist with the compilation of the Technical Director's report.Manage job cards according to company policies.Coordinate logging of information on company systems.Understand and leverage company systems.Monitor Technical Dashboard and implement solutions.Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.Desired Experience & Qualification10-15 years' experience.Tertiary qualification (must be a qualified mechanic).Must have a valid passport.Must have a valid driver's license (Code 14 preferably).
