Experience:The successful incumbent must possess at least ten (10) years experience within a similar position within construction project management, with a proven track record of successfully delivering projects on time and within budget.Formal qualifications:A bachelors degree in engineering (civil or structural), construction management, building studies, quantity surveying or a related field is preferredHigh proficiency in Microsoft ProjectsCertifications in project management or related areas will be an added advantageValid driving license code 08Registration with SACPCMP as PrCM or ECSA as PrEng/PrTechEngOwn transportResponsibilities:Planning Developing comprehensive project plans, including timelines, resource allocations and procurement strategiesCoordinating and overseeing construction activities, ensuring adherence to project schedules and specificationsOverseeing the logistical requirements of projectsSetting targets, objectives and responsibilities for all supervised staff and contractorsRegularly reviewing timings, budget, labour, risk and project plans to ensure work stays on trackSetting and agreeing on budgetsChoosing tools, materials and processes to use in the construction project and tracking the inventory of those itemsConducting an in-depth analysis of the project to develop the most accurate budget and deliverablesIdentifying, managing and mitigating risk factors to ensure the project is in accordance with the expected standardsManaging construction project documentation, including contracts, permits, drawings and change ordersMonitoring and reporting on the budget and timeline of the projectManagement of staff Evaluating and selecting contractors and subcontractors based on qualifications, experience and cost-effectivenessKeeping daily employee logs and monitoring the conduct of Construction Workers and ContractorsEnsuring excellent discipline amongst the workforce and teamProviding leadership and guidance to the project team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environmentDelegating work to colleagues within your teamClient relations and liaison Conducting regular meetings to facilitate communication, address challenges and to meet project objectivesProviding regular updates and reports on project status, including milestones, budget updates and any significant developments or risksDealing with contracts and mitigating the impact of any issuesWorking closely with Architects, Engineers, Contractors and clients to establish the requirements for the construction projectQuality and legislation compliance Conducting site visits to inspect work, check materials and ensure staff are following health and safety guidelinesImplementing and enforcing safety protocols and ensuring compliance with local building codes and regulationsCarrying out project evaluations and assessments to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary corrective measuresMonitoring project progress, tracking key performance indicators (KPI) and report on project status to stakeholdersEnsuring compliance with safety regulations and legal requirements, prioritising a safe working environment for all involvedEnsuring the delivery of high-quality work within contract timescalesOverseeing the construction process for buildings, bridges, roads and other structures.Ensuring that the construction project complies with all safety and building regulationsWorking with local authorities to obtain licenses and permits for the projectInherent requirements for the position:High proficiency in MS ProjectsProficiency in project administrationStrong knowledge of construction methodologies, building codes and safety regulations in the South African contextExcellent time management skillsExcellent project management skills, including effective planning, organising and prioritising tasksProficiency in reading and interpreting technical documents, including project drawings and specificationsSolid grasp of construction methods, building compliance and safety regulationsKnowledge of basic accounting procedures including the making of financial projections and the creation of budgetsWorking knowledge and experience with legal documentationExperience with IT and MathematicsStrong leadership skills- including excellent delegation and staff managementBusiness management skillsFamiliarity with sustainable construction practicesProficiency in construction management software, project scheduling tools and cost estimation softwareExcellent communication (verbal, written and technical)Excellent problem-solving skillsAnalytical thinkingExcellent reporting skillsKnowledge of project management softwareUnderstanding of contractual conditions and relevant industry regulationsExcellent attention to detailAbility to work well under pressureStrong interpersonal skillsFamiliarity with FIDIC forms of ContractShortlisted candidates
