An established international production business is seeking to permanently employ a Junior Millwright at their head office in the larger Paarl, Cape Winelands area. This is an ideal position for an individual searching for an exciting career opportunity in a dynamic and rapidly growing global production company.
Main Responsibilities
Assembling, installing, moving, and electrically wiring all factory equipment.
Testing all installed equipment to ensure they are working correctly.
Operating machinery or equipment, such as forklifts, to move heavy loads.
Complying with health and safety regulations.
Minimising equipment and production downtime.
Attending to both mechanical and electrical breakdowns.
Running tests, making temporary repairs, or installing new parts to identify and repair problematic machine parts.
Dismantling and replacing older machines.
Running preventative maintenance by identifying and correcting potential issues, removing worn-out pieces, and lubricating mechanical parts.
Repairing equipment to a high standard.
Performing routine tests and inspections on electrical and mechanical equipment according to safety regulations.
Installation, maintenance, repair, design, and wiring of electrical systems.
Accurately and timeously completing Job Cards when tasks are completed.
Ad Hoc or other related duties as assigned.
Skills and Capabilities
Good at adhering to strict safety guidelines and conscious of safety risks.
Excellent attention to detail.
Proficient in troubleshooting techniques to solve machine issues.
Able to work well under pressure.
Mechanical aptitude in working with wrenches, hammers, forklifts, and other similar tools.
Exceptional time management and communication skills.
Able to read and follow documents such as specifications, machine manuals, blueprints, and electrical drawings.
Effective organisation and prioritising of tasks.
Able to work independently and as part of a team.
Comfortable with routine work but flexible enough to adjust to ad hoc situations.
Must be able to think creatively and come up with innovative ideas.
Strong electrical aptitude, including the ability to use various electrical testing equipment.
Willing to take ownership of tasks and lead assisting team members.
Requirements
National Senior Certificate
N2 Mechanical and Electrical National Certificate
A recognised Millwright Trade Test Certificate (Red Seal) as obtained in South Africa
0-2 years post-trade experience
Must be willing to perform standby duties as required.
Must be willing to work overtime.
Forklift license is advantageous.
Salary: Dependent on skills and experience.
