Description Purpose of the role To strategically optimise in-store layouts to maximise product visibility, sales, and enhance the overall customer experience.
This role involves designing, developing, and continuously improving merchandising content, including planograms and showroom layouts, based on data-driven insights and retail trends.
The Micro Space Planner collaborates with cross-functional teams, including market, supply, web, and store operations, to ensure that merchandising strategies align with business goals, enhance profitability, and meet customer needs.
By leveraging advanced merchandising software and techniques, the role aims to deliver efficient, aesthetically pleasing store environments that elevate the brand and drive operational excellence.
Main responsibilities: Develop and Optimise Merchandising Content: Lead the design, development, and optimization of planograms, pedagogy materials, and showroom layouts.
Ensure merchandising strategies align with cross-functional business principles, market trends, and safety regulations.
Continuously improve store layouts for efficiency and performance to drive sales and enhance the customer experience.
Data Analysis and Planning: Collect, analyse, and interpret data from sales, supply chain, and market trends to create data-driven merchandising strategies.
Use advanced retail analytics and customer insights to inform space planning decisions, maximising profitability and in-store traffic.
Collaboration and Leadership: Collaborate with cross-functional teams (market, supply, web, stores, and suppliers) to ensure seamless execution of merchandising content.
Act as a key contributor to the continuous improvement and evolution of the merchandising strategy, providing expert insights into micro space planning.
Technology and Innovation: Utilise merchandising software, particularly Blue Yonder (JDA), to develop, update, and distribute all merchandising content.
Stay up to date with industry innovations, trends, and technologies that can improve the store's visual layout and product placement efficiency.
Requirements Profile The successful candidate should have the following skills, experience and attributes: Education: Bachelor's degree in merchandising, retail management, business, design, or a related field (preferred).Experience: 5 to 10 years of experience in Micro Space Planning, ideally within the retail sector.Technical Skills: Proficiency in merchandising software, particularly Blue Yonder (JDA) or similar tools, is essential.Space Optimization Expertise: Proven experience in space optimization, planogram development, and showroom layout creation.Analytical Skills: Strong analytical abilities with proficiency in interpreting data to create data-driven, customer-focused store layouts.Project Management: Demonstrated experience in leading and managing complex merchandising projects, with strong organizational and multitasking skills.Industry Knowledge: A deep understanding of retail trends, customer behavior, and how these impact space planning and product placement strategies.Collaboration and Communication: Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and departments.Innovation and Adaptability: Ability to stay updated with industry innovations and apply new techniques to enhance store layouts and product placement.Results-Oriented: A results-driven mindset with a focus on driving operational excellence and brand elevation.
