Deliver successful projects, where nominated as the project leader or project member.
Use SAP MRP data and internal customer input to place, expedite, and reconcile purchase orders.
Resolve all supplier payment issues and blocked invoice queries (parked list).
Support Saint-Gobain's common goals and vision by working with local and global team members, cross-functional teams, other departments, and functions to deliver on commitments.
Adhere to all Saint-Gobain's policies and procedures and proactively educate the business on purchasing procedures and systems.
Update the budget, sourcing portfolio, spend, supply planning, and KPI files on a weekly basis.
Highlight any supply risk identified to the business.
Log and resolve claims logged against suppliers.
Use of financial instruments like LOCs and bank guarantees to mitigate risk.
Is this job for you?
The ideal candidate should have 3 to 5 years' experience in a strategic sourcing or procurement-related role. Specific knowledge of steel buying will be advantageous. The candidate should also have a BCom degree or diploma in supply chain. A SAPICS or CIPS certification would be advantageous. The role calls for a person who is assertive, well spoken, and has good verbal and written communication skills. Good interpersonal, relationship, and people management skills. They should have strong negotiation and persuasion skills. The candidate should be customer-focused and a team player. An efficient and organized individual with leadership skills or experience. The candidate should be able to work under pressure, be resilient, accept criticism, and deal calmly and effectively with stressful situations. Should be an analytical thinker and use logic to address work-related issues.

The Metals Buyer will be responsible for acquiring the best product at the best price from suppliers and ensuring the availability, control, and purchase of raw materials and consumables as needed by production. Responsible in dealing with company resources. The role will require someone who has knowledge of administration and management principles, including strategic planning, resource allocation, production methods, and coordination of people and resources. Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of products.
