Merchandise Planner – Poetry Homeware

An opportunity has become available at our Head Office (Cape Town) in the Poetry Department for a Merchandise Planner required for the Poetry Homeware portfolio.
Our ideal candidate should possess strong analytical, logical reasoning and numerical abilities. The successful candidate will have the ability to align with the company vision, be self-motivated and actively involved in the planning process in the applicable area of responsibility. In addition, the successful candidate should have the high energy levels, resilience and confidence required for this fast-paced, exciting and dynamic retail environment
Duties and Responsibilities: Contribute to achieving Turnover, GP & Stock budgets and other KPI's.Post Seasonal analysis, Strategic Planning, Replenishment Planning, Range & Assortment Planning.Budgeting and forecasting in order to maximize sales and profitability.Stock control and distribution whereby you ensure that the product assortments, volumes and store & product attributes are maximized.Raising of orders and submitting consolidationsLiaising effectively with stores, suppliers, customers, shipping and marketingKnowledge, Experience & Qualifications Required Min of 5 years' experience as a Merchandise PlannerPrevious experience in Homeware or an area with replenishment is necessaryMatric & Graduate qualification in a related fieldMicrosoft Office proficiencyReporting systemsProficiency in Enterprise PlanningJob Related Competencies A passion for keeping up to date with product trendsGood articulation with excellent English written & verbal communication skillsSound numerical, analytical thinking & logical problem-solving skillsStrong merchant, trader and commercial mentalityA Team Collaborator with strong strategic and forward thinkingStrong planning, organizing, administrating and coordinating skillsAbility to work independently, self-lead and use initiativeMethodical, detail-orientated and accurateDeadline and outcomes focusedResilient and tenacious in a pressurized, fast-paced and ever-changing environmentAbility to resolve conflictAbility to build and maintain relationships with all levels of the organizationAn eagerness to learnPlease note:  The Cape Union Mart Group is committed to transformation.  Appointments and promotions will be made based on candidates who best meet the requirements for the position.
