The Mechanical Technician is responsible for providing technical support to the day shift personnel, ensuring maximum plant availability, efficiency, quality, and reliability are maintained. The role includes performing root cause failure analysis and investigating production and quality-related issues. The incumbent will lead projects for both improvements and new developments in the plant. During shutdown periods, he/she will be involved with shutdown planning and supervision. The incumbent may periodically act in the position of section Engineer to gain experience with management and working with team managers.Job SpecificationsResponsibilities include maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all mechanical and hydraulic equipment.Support the Maintenance Team on breakdowns and shutdowns.Refurbishment of specialised spares, risk identification, and management thereof.Develop contingency procedures and perform plant modifications in line with new technology.Ensure legal compliance.Liaise with the project department and manage capital projects.Update the LRU system.Assist with SQIN meetings with suppliers.Stores management updating item codes as needed according to ECPs.Perform standby duties.Compile Capex's.Assist with continuous plant improvement.RequirementsMinimum qualification of S4 or N6 Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, with 4 years of relevant experience.The ideal candidate will hold a BTech or BEng and/or GCC in Mechanical Engineering with 2 years of relevant experience.Plant process and equipment knowledge will be advantageous.Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and complex mechanical systems.Must have sound knowledge of planned maintenance principles.Motivated self-starter with the ability to think analytically.Flexible and willing to work overtime when required.Good communication skills with the ability to liaise with suppliers and colleagues at all levels.
