Under the direction of the Director, Research Analytics the incumbent manages the delivery of data, reporting and analytics, and provides information to support planning, policy formulation, and decision-making in order to further the academic mission of the University.
The Manager will lead and coordinate data analysis, investigations, and assessment projects that enable stakeholders at various levels to make data driven decisions. Through strong relationships with partners and by working collaboratively with teams across the Division of the Vice-President Research and Innovation, and across the institution, this position will have a major impact on the strategic information that is provided to senior leadership, enhancing the effectiveness of decision making. The incumbent will possess the knowledge and expertise to effectively manage projects that use and develop the University's data systems.
The Manager will facilitate access to information maintained in the institution's administrative and research information systems to support University operations and monitor key indicators, ensuring the integrity of data/information released in reports or studies. The incumbent manages data collection and data analysis relative to university priorities, manages the compilation of data and manages the submission of required reports regarding university activities.
Qualifications Required:
(Minimum) EDUCATION: Master's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Quantitative Social Sciences, Information, Data Sciences, or an acceptable combination of education and experience. A strong project management background with a strong emphasis on analysis, metrics, and business intelligence.EXPERIENCE: Minimum five to seven (5 -7) years of experience in statistical analysis demographic analysis, computer-assisted analysis, and/or operations research. Experience leading broad institutional or organization-wide projects, establishing protocols, administering and interpreting policies, rules and regulations, and developing systems or similar administrative processes.Significant experience with databases and systems as well as compiling and analyzing complex information. Proven successful experience conducting research.Experience in mapping suitable analytic solutions to ensure required performance data can be reliably tracked and reported.Project management, time management and communication skills necessary to execute the responsibilities in a collaborative, academic setting.Experience working with information technology systems and demonstrated experience in increasing the operational efficiency and effectiveness of processes and systems with technology. Demonstrated experience working with large institutional data systems- gathering, analyzing and presenting data in professional and confidential manner using most appropriate data gathering and analysis tools and software. Experience collaborating and interacting with senior administrators and providing advice and expertise.Experience developing and presenting new reports that convey new ideas/approach for senior management to facilitate academic and strategic planning discussions and advocacy.Experience in team building, training, and managing staff.Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines; and implement project deliverables.SKILLS: Leadership skills to guide project teams and develop collaborations in a complex organization.High degree of political acuity and judgment, consensus building. Strong project management and change management skills to ensure projects are delivered in scope, on time and within budget.Experience with Tableau, SQL, or similar data management and visualization software.Experience with agile project management, Microsoft Azure data platforms and DevOps project management systems.Aptitude in systems thinking, analytical ability, problem-solving strength.Excellent writing, communication and presentation.Ability to simultaneously manage multiple complex projects.Detail-oriented, strong analytical and conceptual thinking. Highly familiar with business intelligence structures.Demonstrated interpersonal, organizational, and conflict-resolution skills. Ability to work in ambiguous situations, multiple interruptions, conflicting deadlines. Ability to be creative in the development of ideas and in the combining of data sources to facilitate analyses. Familiarity with higher education metrics.Excellent organizational skills in planning and managing projects.Flexibility to adapt to changing-needs.OTHER: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with staff, colleagues, senior university administrators and external contacts. Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills. Managerial skills and the ability to set priorities and foster a strong team environment. Ability to coach staff and assess performance. Tact, diplomacy, judgment, and the ability to analyze and problem solve.The ability to work in and program services for a very diverse stakeholder group. Solid understanding of the University and University organizational structure.Knowledge and understanding of the University and University's mission. Attention to detail and accuracy.
