Manager: Predictive Analytics & ReportingWe have an exciting opportunity for a business minded individual to develop analytical insights and implement appropriate rating and underwriting interventions across all distribution channels to ensure delivery of the Personal Lines profit and growth targets. This role can be based in Cape Town or Johannesburg.
Key ResponsibilitiesTo drive and implement predictive analytics initiatives for underwriting.Automate underwriting rules and predictive underwriting through analytics manager.Contribute, as member of Personal Lines underwriting management team, to the development, implementation, and execution of the Personal Lines underwriting strategies and priorities.Shared responsibility for delivery of current and future strategic underwriting projects.Shared responsibility for the setting and achievement of PL growth and profit targets with all distribution channels through pro-active trend analysis.Prioritise appropriate corrective actions to address growth and profit deviations.Liaise with Actuarial & Product Management on Santam's Personal Lines pricing- and product strategy and maintenance of product range to remain competitive.Provide data insights to team and executives and develop commercially viable solutions and drive various process automations and efficiencies.Contribute to new business model development and enable delivery thereof from a pricing and underwriting perspective.Manage relationship with internal and external business partners – provide pricing and underwriting insights and expertise where required.Lead a team of underwriting data analysts.Analyse and build statistical models for various sets of data on a regular basis to assist in determining business trends. This includes forecasting models.Predictive Underwriting model design and implementation.Data quality control and data management.Qualifications & ExperienceMinimum Bachelor's Degree - applicable major preferred (Statistics/Applied Maths/Engineering/Data science or related fields).Minimum of 5 years' strong Short-term insurance/Credit Data Analysis & Management experience is required.Minimum 5 years' experience in insurance products, systems and data management.Minimum 5 years' experience in predictive (AI/ML/GLM) model building.Minimum 3-5 years' experience operating at a management/lead analyst level.Insurance-related qualifications, such as AIISA/FIISA, recommended but not required.SkillsAnalytical skills (knowledge and experience)Financial and Commercial acumenExcellent people skills (relationship and stakeholder management)Excellent communication, influencing and relationship building skillsExcellent multi-level task management and organisation skillsAnalysing informationProblem solvingPerforming under pressureShort-term insurance or Credit industry knowledgeUnderwriting and financial conceptsKnowledge of Personal Lines pricing and underwriting systemsDrives resultsFlexible and adaptableCultivates innovationClient focusDeveloping and implementing strategyEnterprising and commercial thinkingDeciding and initiating actionLeadershipBuilding networks and good relationsNegotiating and achieving workable solutions
