PURPOSE
Manage the operations on repairs and maintenance to Mechanical Plant, equipment, instrumentation and Yellow Machines located at Johannesburg Treatment Works in accordance to General Machinery Regulations section 2.1 and 2.7 (OHSA) and SANS codes of practice.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage and ensure the scheduling, installation, repair and maintenance of all mechanical equipment, instrumentation and Yellow Machines located at the various Wastewater Treatment Works in compliance to OHSA and SANS codes of practice. Manage and ensure the pro-active pre-planning, monitoring and inspection of all work carried out by the respective teams. Oversee projects by providing technical advice and direction to CAPEX department including consultants with regards to the design of new installations and upgrade of existing installations. Oversee the approval of designs and monitor progress of work according to Johannesburg Water approved standards. Sign off practical completion of work. Manage staff in terms of Human Resources policies. Manage, develop and motivate personnel towards the achievement of the section's goals and objectives. Monitor and enforce safety requirements in the workplace by carrying out risk assessments and on-the-job assessments. Control expenditure by ensuring that spending is appropriate and necessary for the achievement of the section's objectives. Liaise with contractors on an Ad hoc basis to ensure that all outsourced work is completed within agreed timeframes. Liaise with consultants and other Johannesburg Water departments on operational issues when required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Essential qualifications and experience:
B-tech / BSC /B Degree in Mechanical Engineering (NQF7) / Advanced Diploma / Higher Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
5 years' experience repairs, various maintenance processes of which 2 must be at managerial level.
Waste water treatment experience will be an added advantage.
