Maintenance Manager for refrigeration company - food manufacturers
Maintenance Owner for plant based in Randburg, running the Pillar systems to standard.

Ensuring the high availability of production equipment throughout all shifts.
Bringing equipment back to base condition to improve quality, yield and availability. Assisting with development of processes for new products to ensure competitive advantage.
Reports To: Plant Manager Randburg
Key Responsibilities:
Take on the role of maintenance Owner in the TPM management system and update reports accordingly.
Take responsibility for the Defect Handling Process at Randburg Plant.
Feed the required information back to management for the maintenance reporting.
Attend monthly management meetings.
Implement the PM pillar systems on the relevant AM zones, which include:
Breakdown Reduction
Equipment Criticality
Capability Building
Lubrication Management
Visual Controls
Work Management
Storeroom Management
Formulate and implement a critical spares plan to reduce machine downtime while maintaining correct spares levels.
Attend to breakdowns and equipment failure on the premises or anywhere that may be required, in a timely manner.
Formulate a staffing plan to ensure that enough staff is available to keep pace with the growth and expansion of the company.
Attend to the rebuilding and modernizing of all equipment.
Respond to reports of equipment failure during the operational hours of the company's manufacturing facility.
Oversee the installation of new equipment and fixtures and the removal of old equipment.
Ensure the servicing and maintenance of all equipment on a regular basis as agreed with the Plant Manager.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements related to health, safety, and environmental standards.
Develop and implement safety procedures and protocols to minimize risks and ensure a safe working environment.
Control the stock of spares, tools and equipment by having monthly counts and reconciling of parts.
Assist Company Store Manager in the maintenance of bakery equipment at the Northriding store when requested.
Prepare orders for items required in line of duty and have the orders authorized as per Company Rules.
Ensure that a Goods Received Voucher (GRV) is filled in for all items received.
Ensure that the required fixed asset transfer documents are in order prior to moving any items or equipment from the plant.
Optimize resource allocation and scheduling to maximize maintenance efficiency and minimize production disruptions.
Develop and implement resource optimization strategies, including predictive and preventive maintenance programs.
Maintain written proof of stock-control of spares and equipment.
Assist with the training, development, mentoring and well-being of the associates in this department.
Ensure the associates in this department are managed properly and are adequately trained or work under supervision if they do not possess the required competency level.
Ensure associates receive good assistance in the execution of their duties.
Conduct Performance Development Planning with all associates in this department.
Assist the Human Resources division in disciplinary investigations.
Identify and manage engineering projects.
Identify and assess potential risks related to maintenance operations and develop mitigation strategies.
Establish contingency plans to address unexpected equipment failures or emergencies.
Ensure all associates report identified problems with the food safety management system.
Manage a millwright and an artisan.
Relevant Qualifications:
Relevant tertiary qualification as a Millwright or diploma.
Five years experience in engineering and maintenance of food/bakery processing.
Knowledge of manufacturing systems, process controls and instrumentation required.
Functional Requirements:
5 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment requiring knowledge of refrigeration, plumbing, industrial electrical and mechanical systems, and maintenance, and automated manufacturing process controls and equipment.
Demonstrated knowledge and application of preventative maintenance techniques/scheduling and safety management.
Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), sanitation processes/procedures and HACCP.
Demonstrated knowledge of efficient and safe manufacturing operations to include product and associate safety, OSHA standards, product quality (success rates), cost control (minimizing downtime and waste, optimizing yield).
Demonstrated ability to direct, coach, and train associates as well as plan, monitor and schedule work.
Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
