Job Purpose:
• Teach on the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes combination of the following subjects: Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Control Systems, Industrial Automation, Computer Engineering, Embedded Systems, Process Control & Industrial Networking, Electronic System & Devices, Mechatronic Control Systems, and Mechatronic System Design & Simulation.
• Conduct research and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
• A Masters Degree in Mechatronics Engineering or Electro-Mechanical Engineering. All base qualifications (Diploma or its equivalent and Bachelor) must be Mechatronics Engineering or Electro-Mechanical Engineering.
• At least two (2) years lecturing experience or two (2) years relevant industrial experience.
• Demonstrable ability to teach specialized electrical and electronics engineering disciplines such as Systems & Control Engineering, Electronic Systems & Devices, Power Engineering, Energy Systems and Embedded Systems Design.
• Working knowledge of Electrical and Electronics Engineering software packages.
Recommendations:
• Must be registered with ECSA Professional Body or must register within 12 months of employment.
Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities:
• Lecturing on the Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering Programmes: Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Control Systems, Industrial Automation, Computer Engineering, Embedded Systems, Process Control & Industrial Networking, Electronic System & Devices, Mechatronic Control Systems and Mechatronic System Design & Simulation and other Electrical and Electronics Engineering related subjects as required at a tertiary institution.
• Develop learning materials for Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Postgraduate Diploma, Masters and Doctoral qualifications.
• Supervise and mentor students: undergraduate and postgraduate.
• Contribute to research outputs through participation in research activities.
• Assistance with departmental administration / All subject related admin / quality assurance related admin.
• Liaison with industry partners and other stakeholders.
• Conduct research and publication of articles in accredited journals.
• Curriculum design and development, assessment and quality assurance.
• Academic administration, development and management.
