Lead Engineer - Plastics

We are currently on a search for a lead Engineer - Plastics to join the largest manufacturer and distributor of major appliances in Southern Africa, to be based in Durban, Jacobs. The main purpose of the job will be to ensure smooth and efficient operation of plastic extrusion.Key ResponsibilitiesManage and implement platform projects from conceptual phase to implementation.Design products/mold and/or make improvements/changes to existing products/components in line with market requirements and trends.Use 3D drawing software for analyses and approval of international mold design.Manage and implement cost reduction/quality improvement projects.Manage productivity improvement (OEE improvement).Ensure products comply with standard requirements.Identify opportunities for improvement at both molding facilities.Implement spare part holding and service intervals for critical molds.Improve OEE of plastic injection department as calculated by Promanage software.Drive productivity improvement in the plastic injection department.Support Lead Engineer - Plastics.Develop improvement ideas for submission of capital funding.Identify opportunities for improvement at both molding facilities.Skills & QualificationsBSc Degree in Mechanical Engineering.5 – 8 years experience within manufacturing.Experience in 2D & 3D CAD drawing and modeling.Proficiency in Microsoft Office.Project management proficiency.Knowledge in various plastic forming technologies preferred.A good understanding of plastic part mold design and plastic part production process would also be advantageous.Please be advised if you haven't been contacted within 30 days, then your application is unsuccessful.
