Main job function
JOB SUMMARY
Closely collaborates with the CEO, Corporate Director, Directors, and Project Managers in directing, coordinating, and exercising functional authority, initiating, planning, executing, monitoring & control, integration, and closing of the civil projects within his area of assigned authority. Drives the implementation of the Electrical Engineering Division's vision of growth. Completes engineering projects by organizing and controlling various project elements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervise engineers and draughts people in the electrical department.
Design electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial and industrial purposes using computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
Plan and implement research methodology and procedures to apply principles of electrical theory to engineering projects.
Collect information, perform calculations, and prepare diagrams and drawings of electrical installations and circuitry.
Provide preliminary drawings and/or samples to clients for selection and approval.
Study technical drawings, specifications of electrical systems, and scopes of work to ensure installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements.
Ensure that completed works meet specifications and safety standards.
Estimate labor, material, and construction costs and prepare specifications for the purchase of material and equipment.
Attend meetings on site.
Supervise the installation, startup, operation, and maintenance of an electrical plant.
Perform limited project management for electrical engineering projects.
Produce design calculations, sketch drawings, and details of drawings using relevant software (Revit, Revizto, Dialux, ETAP, etc.), including checking and reviewing of these prior to issue completed by others.
Assist the project manager in the preparation/review of project costs and risk assessments.
Represent Engineering Services on factory acceptance tests and site testing & commissioning activities.
Communicate the status of projects to internal directors and external stakeholders (clients) on an ad-hoc and formal basis.
Carry out other duties as requested by management as the needs of the business may dictate.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE / MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or similar qualification.
Registered with ECSA or any recognized professional body as a professional engineer.
Experience managing a team of junior and senior employees.
Minimum 15 years in engineering design, management, and construction.
Minimum 10 years' experience in performing electrical/mechanical design.
Extensive experience in the design and construction of steel water pipelines, pump stations, reservoirs, abstraction works, and water treatment plants.
Legal knowledge of Employee Equity Act, Labour and Employment laws, OHS Act, Design compliance standards.
Knowledge of MS Office, MS Project, and various civil and water design software.
Driver's License is essential.
Quality Management - Ensure that there is ISO compliance.
Regular inter-provincial and international site visits and meetings.
