Who You'll Work With
You will join our Johannesburg office as part of Africa Client Capabilities Team. You will work closely with the local team of colleagues with whom you will be collaborating daily.
Additionally, you will interact with a wide range of analysts from the Basic Materials Practice across the region and firm. You will also partner with integrative consulting colleagues from client services team directly on client engagements. Your focus will be on providing expertise and insights on mining industry trends and problem solving on unique client challenges.
Your impact within our firm
You will have the opportunity to work alongside senior knowledge professionals and Integrative Consultants on larger client projects and internal knowledge initiatives. By collecting and analyzing data and information found in databases and/or other primary and secondary research tools, you will assemble a fact base, counsel consultants and clients on the scope of business and trends surrounding the issue, and provide insights and analysis for solving client problems at hand.
In this role, you will perform a wide range of analytics tasks on various basic materials industries and more specifically mining operations, developing perspectives that are relevant to clients.
You will collaborate with our Africa Client Capabilities team as well as the global Basic Materials Insights network to share and build knowledge, best practices, and relevant new ideas.
Your day-to-day tasks may include identifying the key issues facing our clients and determining the most appropriate solution while effectively balancing quality, availability, timeliness, and cost factors. You'll likely perform a variety of analyses such as benchmarking, trend identification, opportunity scanning, etc., to add value to problem-solving discussions. You'll also provide synthesis, insights and client implications within tight deadlines via end products in the form of PowerPoint documents, written memos, models in Excel and frameworks. In time, you will also participate in, and eventually lead, internal knowledge development and capability-building initiatives, and use advanced analytics tools to prepare and analyze large datasets to distill insights.

Your qualifications and skills
Min. honors degree in engineering (or similar) with master's degree preferred
2+ years of work experience in mining operations. Research experience in mining advantageous
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Superior problem-solving, analytical skills and true entrepreneurial spirit
Significant understanding of the industry dynamics of the mining sector
Passion for analytics and interest in developing new approaches to mining data analysis and application to operational improvement
Willing to work in a highly demanding and result-oriented team environment
Self-motivation and high service-orientated work ethic
