The NEF is hiring a Kitchen Assistant to join our Facilities team on a 03 months fixed-term contract. The incumbent's responsibilities will be ensuring that all kitchens are maintained in a hygienic condition, including cleaning, washing, and preparation duties required to help maintain organized and smooth kitchen operations.
Maintenance of a Hygienic EnvironmentMaintenance of a hygienic environment in all kitchensEnsure that the serving counters, meeting rooms, and kitchens are kept cleanCollect dishes from the meeting roomsEnsure cupboards are clean and hygienicClear refrigerators, freezers, and storage roomsKeep kitchen walls, floors, and surfaces cleanSet the meeting rooms before time for pre-booked meetingsPrepare refreshments at least 10 minutes before the meeting commencesEnsure that all clients are served with refreshments accordinglyEnsure that Divisional kitchens are properly stockedInventory of StockEnsure that the grocery, cutlery, and crockery inventories are up to dateCount stock on the last week of the month and submit stock sheet to the FMA for re-orderCapture the new stock into the stock sheetOrganise and correctly store the stockEnsure that necessary catering requests are attended to 48 hours prior to the eventLiaise daily with the reception desk on the next day's calendar of activitiesReport faulty equipment to supervisorQualification RequirementsGrade 12Basic food hygiene certificateExperience / Skills Required6-12 months previous kitchen work experience in a corporate environmentAttention to detail and interpersonal skillsAbility to read and writeExceptional time management and organisational skillsExcellent communication and teamwork skillsSound knowledge of kitchen hygiene and safety standardsPersonal Attributes/Behaviours/AttitudesAbility to stand for long periods and perform tasks that require manual labourAbility to adapt to changes in workload or kitchen requirements
