Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Junior Farm Manager to oversee operations at a growing guest farm located in a remote area outside Montagu.
The farm combines high-end guest accommodation with a sustainable, nature-friendly agricultural business.
This role requires someone with strong leadership skills who can manage daily farm activities to the highest standards while working closely with the General Manager to achieve strategic objectives.
Location: A secluded farm 25km outside MontaguAccommodation: Provided, DSTV, internet water and electricity includedQualifications and Skills: A formal qualification in agriculture is advantageous.Fluent in English and Afrikaans with excellent communication skills.A valid driver's licence is required.First aid training and a good understanding of health and safety compliance.Experience: Minimum of 3 years' experience in stone fruit or similar agricultural operations.Key Competencies: Strong work ethic and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Proven management and leadership abilities.Effective project planning and organisational skills.Ability to perform under pressure while maintaining discipline.A commitment to continuous learning and striving for excellence.Operational Duties: Manage orchards, gardens, vegetable crops, animals, game, and general farm maintenance.Oversee daily operations to ensure productivity, sustainability, and readiness for guest arrivals.Implement farming practices based on permaculture and organic principles.Explore innovative farming techniques to improve processes and outcomes.Technical Responsibilities: Manage fertilisation, pest control, irrigation, livestock, and game.Operate and maintain tractors, spray systems, and other equipment.Oversee small farm improvement projects.Administrative and Leadership Duties: Lead and guide staff, ensuring effective delegation and performance management.Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on farming operations.This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic farm that is both guest-focused and agriculturally innovative.
