ikeja Wireless PTY (LTD) is looking for technicians to join our team, as we embark on the expansion of our network throughout South Africa.

In taking on this role, you will be joining a talented and passionate team who are intrinsically motivated by the fact that we are a fast-growing internet startup which finds itself in the telecommunications space.

The role We are seeking a Junior High Site (Mast) Technician, or an experienced field technician who is looking to broaden their scope to include mast work, to execute a range of duties related to the assembling, testing and maintenance of our mast network.

The Mast Technician role demands that you be proactive, resourceful, hands-on, highly responsible and able to take initiative.

Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Assist in the building and rigging of masts Crimping of RJ45s Cabling on masts and testing of cables Network cabinet building Maintenance of network cabinets Maintenance of mainmast structures Assembling of links Assembling of sectors Hanging and aligning of point to point links Hanging and aligning of sectors Proactive monitoring of sectors Maintenance of links and sectors Utilizing software packages that might pertain to the role Fully live out the ikeja values and drive the ikeja culture across the business Requirements Education: High School Matric (Required) Knowledge of the use of basic tools, such as: spanners, sockets, drills and other operational electrical tools Computer literate and tech savvy Experience in the WISP, networking or telecommunications space A proven experience in working on sites / in the field A proven experience in multi-tasking and prioritizing different tasks Drivers license History of working at heights Prepared to be on standby / work overtime when needed You are a good fit for the role, if: You are passionate about serving multiple communities in South Africa You have excellent attention to detail and hold yourself to a high standard when it comes to neatness You are honest and ethical You are a competent communicator You have strong problem-solving skills You are comfortable with taking on a high level of accountability You are proactive and take initiative You have a strong appetite for learning You are willing to go the extra mile You are a team player Bonus Points Working-at-height certification Certificate of competence relating to mast or field work Exposure to / Mikrotik / Cambium and Unlicensed carrier grade products in a previous role Benefits Why you should join us The opportunity to grow both in your personal and professional capacity - you'll get to work with extremely smart and capable people, who come from all walks of life and career backgrounds.
