Our client, a well-known group based in the KZN Highway area, is looking for an experienced IT Management Information Systems Leader to steer their IT strategy and lead their team.
To be considered for this role, you must have a background in leading IT software development projects within ERP systems such as JD Edwards and Oracle. Candidates without exposure to JDE or Oracle will not be considered for this role.
In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks aimed at ensuring the business operates efficiently and excels in its processes. The position will ensure that ERP systems are aligned with the organization's strategic goals, function smoothly, and enhance business operations. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, project management capabilities, leadership skills, and strong communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities: Development of the IT strategy. Lead and develop an IT team including IT systems analysts, developers, and support staff. Establish IT governance policies to ensure compliance with regulations and industry standards, including data security, privacy, and disaster recovery. Ensure projects are steered and managed based on the company's project management methodologies. Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, budget, and timelines. Plan, coordinate, and manage the implementation of ERP systems or upgrades. Identify and manage IT risks affecting business operations or data security. Implement strong security protocols and disaster recovery plans to protect IT assets. Apply audit recommendations to meet company standards and ensure system integrity. Evaluate and report on ERP system security and controls. Steer IT budgeting and cost management, monitor expenditures, and optimize IT spending to achieve cost efficiencies while maintaining service levels. Analyze current business processes, highlighting strengths and weaknesses, and explore ways IT can contribute to improving these processes. Translate business needs into cost-effective solutions. Analyze and present process re-engineering opportunities to management. Evaluate current information systems architecture and recommend enhancements. Assist management in developing short- to medium-term plans for continuous improvement. Create procedures and reports to identify and address data integrity issues. Manage and deliver large and complex software development ERP engagements. Oversee ERP module integration with other systems. Create technical design documents based on required functionality. Develop new features as specified in design documents. Modify existing features to support business processes. Manage system changes throughout the development lifecycle. Test ERP modules and systems to ensure they meet design requirements. Ensure support is running and operational for all systems. Provide ERP user training and maintain proper documentation. Conduct routine assessments to ensure system integrity and reliability. Requirements: Relevant IT tertiary qualification. At least 7 years relevant work experience with 2 years managing a team focused on ERP development projects. Background in coding/software development projects within JD Edwards and Oracle. Must have held responsibility for IT Strategy Development & budgetary control. Solid understanding of SDLC models. In-depth understanding of ERP systems such as Oracle and JD Edwards. Expert in project management – with exposure to project management methodologies.
