Job Purpose
To manage and maintain the IT infrastructure (SQL Server, MIM 2016, SCOM2016, SharePoint, MS Teams, and ASPEN Hysys). Ensure smooth operation of systems, automating processes, and providing support for various IT services. Collaborate and ensure a dynamic team environment.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
BTech/Honours Degree in Information Technology/Information Systems or equivalent qualification.
At least 5 years' experience in IT industry and should have been certified on two of the following:
Microsoft Certified Solution Expert (MCSE)
Microsoft Technology Associates (MTA) Database Fundamentals
MySQL Certified Developer
Certified Database Administrator (CDA)
Any Microsoft SharePoint certification is required to be considered for this position.
1 – 2 years of hands-on experience with SQL databases.
Familiarity with database management systems (DBMS) like MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Microsoft SQL Server.
Experience in automating IT processes.
Knowledge of IT security best practices.
Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities
SQL Server:
Maintain a SQL Server 2-node cluster servicing 18 active instances.
Oversee the migration of SQL instances to the cluster, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.
MIM 2016:
Automate user provisioning and deprovisioning processes using MIM 2016.
Remediate issues related to duplicate user accounts with similar names but different staff IDs in Active Directory.
SCOM2016:
Manage and potentially activate SCOM for operations management as needed.
SharePoint & MS Teams:
Create, automate, and deprovision SharePoint and OneDrive sites.
Assign policies for MS Teams to ensure compliance and efficient collaboration.
ASPEN Hysys:
Perform annual updates of the ASPEN server license for Chemical Engineering process simulation.
Adapt to the updated licensing policy, which now requires updates every two years to accommodate new software versions.
System Performance and Uptime:
System Availability: Ensuring that all systems are operational and available to users with minimal downtime.
Performance Monitoring: Regularly monitoring system performance and addressing any issues promptly.
Security Management:
Security Compliance: Adhering to security policies and protocols to protect data and systems.
Incident Response: Effectively managing and responding to security incidents.
Network Management:
Network Performance: Maintaining optimal network performance and resolving any connectivity issues.
Network Security: Implementing and managing network security measures.
User Support and Satisfaction:
Helpdesk Efficiency: Resolving user issues promptly and efficiently.
User Satisfaction: Ensuring high levels of user satisfaction with IT services.
System Maintenance and Upgrades:
Regular Maintenance: Performing regular system maintenance to ensure optimal performance.
Upgrades and Patches: Keeping systems up-to-date with the latest upgrades and security patches.
Backup and Recovery:
Data Backup: Ensuring regular backups of critical data.
Disaster Recovery: Implementing and testing disaster recovery plans.
Competencies
Operating Systems: Proficiency in managing various operating systems like Windows, Linux, and MacOS.
Hardware Management: Knowledge of physical devices such as servers, printers, and other peripherals.
Network Management: Understanding of network configurations, protocols, and security measures.
Cloud Computing: Familiarity with cloud platforms and services, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
Cybersecurity: Skills in protecting systems from cyber threats, including knowledge of firewalls, encryption, and intrusion detection systems.
Database Management: Skills in managing and maintaining databases.
Project Management: Ability to oversee IT projects from inception to completion.
System Recovery: Knowledge of backup and recovery processes to ensure data integrity.
