General Job Description: This position is based in Uitenhage, South Africa. Reporting directly to the CI Manager, this position will be responsible for collaborating with a cross-functional team to identify opportunities for innovation and optimisation within the organisation through various value streams.
Role & Responsibilities: At Plant level, provide DOS expertise (HSE, Quality, People development, MP&L and Production system) based on 12 DOS principles to contribute to achieve operational business targets.Follow up on the DOS deployment plan to support plant improvement.Provide DOS knowledge and skills to the plant team through training, coaching, and education as needed.Implement DOS Principles in lean process design, MIFD, validation of Equipment design, cardboard workshop activities, Standardized Work, RTO, process layout, packaging, etc.Contribute to the Plant Direct labour cost budget construction & achievement through efficient direct labour cost management & direct labour cost improvement plan.Direct Labour Cost Management at Plant level:Ensure routing and coefficient data management methodology is correctly applied and respected for direct standard and actual labour cost accuracy.Ensure Direct Labour Efficiency tracking process is linked with the DL cost % results.Support SW construction and adherence, development of RTO (primarily Group Leader and Team Leader role and routines) as the main foundations to achieve high levels of operational performance.Support the implementation of DOS improvement tools for production reliability, changeover standards (flexibility), reduction of line stoppages, line balancing, and overall direct labour efficiency to ensure identification of direct labour productivity potential.Contribute to lead time reduction through the implementation of continuous flow, layout optimization, pull-system, and speed up flows.Support DOS Network Animation in the Plant: Contribute to deploy DOS culture at Group Leader & Team Leader level.Propose and promote best practices within the Plant (DOS Network).Participate in Division level workshops to test the new lean concepts or advanced tools.Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience: National Diploma (or higher) in Industrial/Mechanical Engineering.3-5 years working experience in the Automotive industry.Familiar with project management principles.Advanced computer literacy.Excellent computer skills and thorough knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.Understanding of both the Automotive and Commercial Vehicle industry preferred.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Experience in Assembly, Machining, and Forging Operations preferred.Detail oriented, proactive in anticipating requirements, and able to work efficiently with minimal direction in a sometimes high-pressure environment.Skilled in composing written correspondence and preparing presentations for senior management.Successfully interacts with a dispersed leadership team and others across functions and sites.Committed to tasks and skilled at identifying and solving a variety of problems of broad scope and complexity with little to no supervision.Must be able to work flexible hours.Periodic travel required.Special Requirements: Knowledge of the following systems would be advantageous:lATFAutoCADAvixFMEA softwareSAP systems
