Minimum Requirements for the Role:
A BComm degree in supply chain management, or related is preferred but not essential for the role. Previous experience having worked within a supply chain / import/export logistics and inventory role is essential. Previous experience having worked within the films and packaging industry would be an advantage.
Previous experience working with imports trading in Asia and Europe is preferred. Must have previous experience managing letters of credit. Must be well-experienced in incoterms and logistics handling. Must have strong analytical skills as well as exceptional organizational skills.
The successful candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate and influence at all levels within the organization and with customers. Previous experience having worked with an outsourced shipping company is preferred but not essential. Must be computer literate, with intermediate excel proficiency. Must have attention to detail.
The Successful Candidate Will Be Responsible For:
Overseeing and driving orders working closely with the supply chain team as well as suppliers and customers.
Taking ownership of trading contracts acting as the main contact between suppliers and customers.
Managing import/export/distribution contracts from inception, to completion, and reconciliation.
Receiving customer orders, placing orders with suppliers, establishing LCs, applying for FEC bookings, etc.
Overseeing shipments, processing shipping documents, clearing instructions, arranging insurance, inspections, etc.
Receipting cargo in warehouse and managing customer inventory levels.
Managing deliveries to customers, collecting PODs and issuing invoices.
Reconciling contracts quarterly and reporting on contract profitability.
Handling day-to-day queries and issues with customers and suppliers.
Obtaining and negotiating quotes for freight rates, with shipping lines or freight forwarders.
Arranging bookings with carriers or freight forwarders.
Maintaining external contact with shipping lines, agents, banks, inspection companies and third-party commodity suppliers and receivers.
Arranging import and export clearance for all local transactions.
Ensuring external sales are kept informed of any developments that are relevant to their customers.
Ensuring that all customer complaints, issues and queries are dealt with timeously.
Monitoring stock levels to meet customers' needs, including reserved stock.
Salary package, including benefits, is highly negotiable depending on experience gained.
