Our company, a national air-conditioning service and maintenance provider, has a vacancy for a HVAC Commissioning Technician at our Head Offices in Gauteng.
As HVAC Commissioning Technician, you will be responsible for providing commissioning and installation services on a range of planned/unplanned projects, as well as providing customer and in-house technical support services as per service level agreements. Commissioning requires the full testing of a system to ensure all design criteria are met and, if not, to provide adequate reports on shortcomings. This includes documenting aspects such as air flow, water flow, air balancing, refrigerant charge, fresh air readings, as well as quality inspections on installations. In addition, you will be required to carry out your role whilst maintaining company, industry, and safety standards. All duties should be performed in alignment with ensuring compliance with the Quality Management System for the area of responsibility.
The successful candidate shall be available immediately, reside in Gauteng (mandatory), and meet the minimum requirements as indicated below.
Duties & Responsibilities
Commissioning Services and Support
Installation and commissioning of HVAC and Refrigeration Systems/Equipment
Repairs on various types of air-conditioning units
Repairs and commissioning of variable refrigerant flow/volume units
Conduct site surveys and complete the necessary documentation
Supervise and test product final stages of system installation
Examine and run tests and perform repairs/alterations where necessary
Ensure all systems are compliant as per plan and specifications
Inspect work/tooling/equipment and determine spare and consumable requirements
Generate work requisitions for scheduled maintenance work (type of repair or maintenance, spare quantities, time, etc.)
Prepare quotes for new jobs
Prepare technical reports
Compliance Management
Compile periodic reports (monthly, weekly, on request) and submit them to management
Attend weekly scheduled department meetings and client meetings
Adhere to company, industry, and safety standards, policies, and procedures
Ensure all safety procedures are followed
People Management
Provide on-site leadership for the project team by building and motivating team members to meet project goals, adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones
Oversee a small technical team
Technical Support and Maintenance
Work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation, and excellence
Offer technical support to customers through quick identification and diagnosis of faulty equipment
Identify defects in components and wiring, and find solutions to solve these defects
Fault finding and repairs of existing equipment on site
Maintenance and repairs of HVAC Units and systems
Conduct job inspections and observations on subcontractors (where relevant)
Reassemble required equipment for repairs
Client Engagement
Attend to customer complaints and problem-solving
Attend client meetings (where relevant)
Liaise with clients/contractors within the given time periods on a regular basis to meet and exceed service expectations
Desired Experience & Qualification
Minimum Experience:
5 – 10 Years HVAC/Industry/Service Experience (compulsory)
3 - 5 years Commissioning experience (compulsory)
Min 3 Years experience within the field post obtaining Trade Qualification and Higher Diploma
Proven ability to demonstrate a drive for results and accountability of business needs
Strong experience presenting to stakeholders
Able to demonstrate good communication skills (both verbally and written) with technical and non-technical staff, at all levels of management
Proven ability to learn, understand and apply new technologies
Qualifications Required:
Matric / Grade 12
BTech / National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (preferred)
N2 - N6 Refrigeration / Electrical Subjects
SARACCA, VRF/F Certification
Safe Handling
Valid Driver's License
Registered Gas Practitioner (mandatory)
Trade Qualified as HVAC Mechanic (Industrial/Commercial)
