Introduction and Role Context
SFI Group, a national air-conditioning service and maintenance company is looking to hire a full-time HVAC Technical Manager to effectively and efficiently manage operations of a single or multiple sites across several portfolios through managing operations, delivery and performance.
Presenting yourself as a key company representative, you will serve as a cornerstone to this critical role. You will supervise and coordinate maintenance and servicing of HVAC Systems; plan individual jobs and long-term operations, develop preventative maintenance strategies and control the quality of completed work. You will be in direct contact with clients, vendors and suppliers to ensure accurate communication of job or project status and requirements.
This role is suitable for an experienced / seasoned individual with strong HVAC technical, maintenance strategy and finance knowledge, coupled with strong management and leadership skills. This is not a Junior HVAC Technician position. The ideal candidate will meet the requirements below, reside in Cape Town, be available immediately, have strong sober habits and have a clear criminal record.
Role Responsibility
Responsibilities

Manage the development, assessments and outputs of a technical team.
Provide exceptional customer service and support by managing client interaction and expectations and resolving problems timeously.
Provide technical direction for the development, design, and systems integration for client engagement from definition phase through implementation.
Assist the team with technical issues, carrying out audit-findings and conducting diagnostics on faulty HVAC systems/equipment.
Remain on the forefront of emerging industry practices and provide technical and subject matter expertise and support and guidance to technical staff.
Ensure routine site audits and quality inspections are carried out timeously and in line with company requirements and practices.
Maintain, drive and meet service standards.
Ensure availability of tools, spares and consumables.
Maintain site file plans and documentation.
Estimate and manage job costs (labour + material).
Generate quotes and recommendations to clients relating to technical needs and solutions.
Action, manage and monitor WIP from inception to close-out.
Keep the Regional Manager informed and advised of any suggestions, staffing requirements, or technical solutions that can be added to the portfolio.
Attend client meetings (scheduled / periodic) and submit relevant client and management reports.

Required Qualification and Experience
Experience

3 - 5 years experience within similar role (HVAC Technical/Site Supervisor).
5 - 10 years servicing and repairing HVAC equipment inclusive of central part experience (post obtaining your qualification).
3 - 5 years managing staff, performances, appraisals and development.
Proven experience of maintaining standards, driving results and outputs.
Proven experience managing and adhering to SLA's and contractual terms and service.
Experience in troubleshooting and diagnostics.
Strong management and proven leadership skills.

Qualifications

Air-conditioning and heating, ventilation Trade Qualification (Commercial / Industrial).
Valid driver's licence.
Valid Gas Handling License.
National Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Project Management Qualification (advantageous).

Knowledge

Sound testing / troubleshooting / fault-finding knowledge.
Ability to manage budgets.
In-depth knowledge of installation, maintenance, repairs and servicing of different HVAC Systems/Equipment including: chilled water systems, cooling towers, pumps, split units, VRF/VRV, packaged units, air-handling units, multistage evaporative cooling and ventilation systems.
Strong administration, organisation and time-management skills.
Knowledge of service, product and installation methods and standards.
Understanding of advanced principles of air-conditioning, refrigeration and heating.

Sound computer literacy skills.
Strong ability to manage people and drive performance.
Excellent Business Acumen skills.
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
Ability to write technical reports aimed at relevant audiences.
