As the Human Resources (HR) Business Partner, you will be responsible for attracting, developing, motivating and retaining high-performing employees. This is a new position at Paterson & Cooke. While the successful candidate will not be expected to define or set the overall HR strategy of the business, input on certain aspects will be valued and he or she will play a crucial part in implementing the agreed HR objectives. Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities Recruitment: Take responsibility for the recruitment strategy and processes, including talent acquisition and candidate selection processes. This will be done in consultation with the Operations Manager and Managing Director as employment needs are identified. Alternatively, through your interaction with staff, you may identify the need for a staff member not currently under considerationHR administration: All staffing administration documentation and record-keeping including offers of employment, job descriptions, employment contracts, visa applications, pay rise and bonus letters, etc. You will be expected to continuously monitor and review HR policies and processes, and implement changes where necessary in association with our leaders and, when required, our external expertsHR strategy: You will be expected to elevate our current HR activities from being mostly reactive to implementing planned initiatives aligned with the agreed HR strategy, with a particular focus on the skills development needs of our employees.Develop systems and processes for employee training, development and promotion to ensure consistency across all staff. For example, ensure that staff understand and progress through key areas of proficiencySupport the continuous development of employees through their career developmentWork with managers to continuously develop our teams by identifying training needs and delivering or organising external trainingLead the analysis of employee feedback and data (via our scheduled employee surveys and other initiatives)Arrange and support all new starter onboarding and induction activityOversee the performance appraisal system that drives high performing teams and recommend improvements to our processes where neededPrepare statistical breakdowns including analysis of sickness/absence and holidaysEnsure legal compliance throughout human resource management with the assistance of our external experts when requiredAssist in nurturing a positive working environmentProvide support with the management of employee relations and performance management cases (including disciplinary, grievance, sickness absence and capability), with the assistance of our external experts when requiredMaintain employee files and recordsDevelopment of job descriptions and person specificationsManage succession planning and trainingResponsibility for sickness absence managementUndertake a meaningful approach to exit interviewsChampion diversity and inclusion in all HR related activitiesAssist in the coaching, mentoring and development of the management team with regards to sound people leadershipContribute towards the business as a whole, identifying process improvements, improvements in policies and procedures and any other innovation changes that would improve the employee experience Qualifications Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline.
