Area/ Location: Johannesburg, Benoni Job Overview:Seeking a reliable and detail-oriented HR Assistant to support the Human Resources team in managing day-to-day HR and Industrial Relations (IR) functions. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date employee records, handling administrative tasks, and ensuring confidentiality regarding HR and IR matters. This role requires a strong ability to learn quickly, adapt to new responsibilities, and take initiative as the role evolves. Key Responsibilities:Confidentiality & Compliance:Maintain strict confidentiality in handling sensitive HR and IR information, including employee personal details, performance reviews, disciplinary actions, and other sensitive company data.Ensure compliance with all HR-related policies, including data protection and labour laws.Employee Records & Documentation:Maintain and update employee records, including personal details, employment history, and benefits information.Ensure accurate and timely completion of all employee documentation, such as contracts, performance evaluations, and training certifications.Assist in the preparation and auditing of HR files for internal or external audits.Recruitment & Onboarding:Assist in recruitment activities, such as posting job vacancies, reviewing applications, scheduling interviews, and conducting reference checks.Support the onboarding process by preparing new hire paperwork, facilitating orientation sessions, and ensuring all necessary documentation is completedPayroll & Benefits Support:Assist with payroll preparation by collecting and verifying timesheets, leave records, and other payroll-related information.Provide administrative support in the management of employee benefits, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and other employee welfare programs.Training & Development:Track employee training schedules, certifications, and development programs.Assist in organizing training sessions, workshops, and seminars as per HR requirementsGeneral HR Support:Provide administrative support to the HR team with day-to-day operations, including responding to employee queries, scheduling HR meetings, and preparing HR reports.Assist with employee relations activities and support HR in resolving basic employee issues or concerns.Take on additional HR tasks and projects as needed, demonstrating adaptability and growth within the role.Key Requirements:Confidentiality: Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity, particularly in HR and IR matters.Learning Ability: Strong willingness to learn new HR systems and processes, taking on increasing responsibility over time.Attention to Detail: Excellent recordkeeping and organizational skills, ensuring accuracy in employee files, documents, and HR systems.Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with employees and management.Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple responsibilities efficiently.Proactive & Adaptable: Capable of anticipating needs, taking initiative, and adapting to changes in the HR landscape.Qualifications:Tertiary studies in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).Proven experience in an administrative role, preferably within an HR department (1-2 years preferred).Knowledge of HR best practices and employment laws is a plus.
