HR GENERALIST
Midrand, South Africa
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
HR Administration:

Manage and administer the payroll system ensuring timely and accurate salary payments, adherence to statutory regulations, and timely payments to the government for approximately 150 staff. Liaise with Finance for reconciliation.
Handle appointment and termination documentation, including conducting exit interviews (letters, unemployment forms, certificate of service, membership to medical aid & provident fund, etc.).
Present the Human Resources section of the On-Boarding Programme to new staff and coordinate the On-Boarding programme for other departments.
Capture HR information and data into relevant systems, ensuring data integrity.
Provide advice and information on HR policies and procedures to functional leads and employees, ensuring understanding and correct application.
Manage and update business organisational organograms, ensuring they are current.
Prepare and participate in surveys to maintain McCormick South Africa's membership in survey groups.
Compile quarterly STATS reports for the South African Government as per legislation.

Employee Relations:

Advise functional leads on disciplinary cases, grievances, and incapacity.
Review practices for statutory compliance and provide ongoing guidance to functional leads.
Represent the organisation at CCMA (Conciliation and Arbitration).
Chair monthly meetings with Shop Stewards in the absence of the HR Manager.
Manage and coordinate employee wellness initiatives.

Recruitment:

Ensure adherence to the recruitment process, timely job advertisements, and tracking.
Conduct interviews with functional leads and selection tests, making recommendations to the HR Manager.
Supervise the orientation of new employees.
Manage probationary reviews, employee evaluations, and terminations.
Ensure site job descriptions are relevant and up to date.

Talent Management:

Coach functional leads on the Performance Management Process and T&O Review process.
Coordinate consistency reviews and T&O review meetings.
Consolidate performance ratings and manage performance appraisal documents.
Drive succession planning for the site.
Facilitate employment equity target setting and monitor profile.
Ensure quarterly EE committee meetings take place.
Drive change management initiatives aligned with business and organisational objectives.

Training Development:

Compile training matrix from appraisal documents (IDP).
Facilitate HR training, including ad-hoc refreshers for employees and functional leads.
Drive development plans for all employees on site.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Degree qualification in Human Resources Management.
3-5 years' experience as an HR Generalist in FMCG, multi-national, manufacturing company.
Employee and industrial relations experience in effectively handling Employee Relations and CCMA cases.
In-depth knowledge of employment law & HR practices for South Africa with a solid track record in managing/advising on legal issues.
Experience in building development and training plans.
Ability to handle complexity across multi-cultural and cross-functional borders in a matrix organisation.
Structured, well-organised, with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
Good analytical skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills across all levels and functions.
Ability to work collaboratively and maintain a positive outlook, even under pressure.
Flexible to change and embrace new initiatives.
Advanced computer literacy (MS Word, MS Excel, and PowerPoint).
Cultural agility to work with diverse teams and employee groups.
Communicative English is a must.
Valid Code EB driver's licence.
