Career Growth Hospitality Recruitment is looking for a Housekeeping Manager for a luxury wine estate in Franschhoek. The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the housekeeping department to ensure that guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas are cleaned and maintained to the highest standards. The role includes overseeing the housekeeping staff, scheduling, training, and quality control. The Housekeeping Manager works closely with the Executive Housekeeper to achieve departmental goals while ensuring guest satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Manage daily housekeeping operations, including room cleaning, laundry services, and public area upkeep.
Assign tasks and responsibilities to housekeeping staff, ensuring proper coverage and timely completion of duties.
Conduct daily inspections of guest rooms and public areas to ensure compliance with cleanliness and presentation standards.
Coordinate with other departments to ensure efficient communication and service delivery.
Supervise, lead, and motivate housekeeping staff, ensuring they are performing their duties to the hotel's standards.
Assist in the recruitment and onboarding of new housekeeping staff, ensuring proper training and orientation.
Provide ongoing training to housekeeping employees on cleaning procedures, safety protocols, and guest service.
Monitor staff performance, provide constructive feedback, and manage performance issues when necessary.
Create and manage staff schedules based on hotel occupancy levels and operational needs.
Ensure adequate staffing levels during peak times and special events while controlling overtime and labor costs.
Monitor employee attendance and manage time-off requests, ensuring smooth operations at all times.
Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces to ensure cleanliness and compliance with hotel standards.
Address guest concerns or requests related to housekeeping promptly and professionally.
Collaborate with the Executive Housekeeper to continuously improve processes and enhance the guest experience.
Monitor and manage housekeeping supplies, linens, and guest amenities to ensure adequate stock levels.
Place orders for cleaning supplies, linen, and guest amenities as needed, maintaining inventory control and minimizing waste.
Ensure that equipment and cleaning tools are properly maintained and available for staff use.
Ensure adherence to health, safety, and hygiene regulations within the housekeeping department.
Implement and maintain safe working practices, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals and materials.
Conduct regular health and safety training for housekeeping staff to ensure compliance with hotel policies and regulations.
Maintain accurate records of housekeeping activities, including cleaning schedules, maintenance requests, and inventory levels.
Prepare reports as needed on departmental performance, staff attendance, and guest feedback.
Assist the Executive Housekeeper with budgeting, cost control, and departmental planning as required.
Requirements:
Extensive experience in a housekeeping supervisory role within a luxury environment.
A tertiary qualification in hospitality management or a related field is preferred.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining luxury standards.
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work efficiently under pressure.
Knowledge of housekeeping management software and basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
