Job Description: Our client is on the hunt for a seasoned Head of Legal who will serve as the legal compass for their robust Commercial Team in Cape Town. This pivotal role encompasses a spectrum of responsibilities from managing legal risks across project lifecycles to leading corporate legal initiatives. The ideal candidate will become the cornerstone of legal expertise, steering the company through intricate transactions and ensuring legal compliance at every turn.Responsibilities:Spearhead the management of legal risks throughout project lifecycles.Craft and refine development stage documentation, including NDAs and purchase agreements.Lead the legal aspects of finance and security documentation.Oversee the closing process of new projects and provide strategic legal input.Manage external legal counsel to optimize service delivery and cost-effectiveness.Keep abreast of legal developments, advising the executive team and board.Requirements:A Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB) and admission as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.At least 10 years of experience in a top-tier law firm or a significant investment bank, with a preference for candidates with exposure to the African market.Proven expertise in Project Finance and M&A.Demonstrable experience with debt and equity transactions.Knowledge in the renewable energy sector is highly desirable.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and excellent communication skills.Desired Skills:Legal DraftingLegal ManagementProject ManagementM&AProject FinanceHead of LegalInvestmentsAbout The Employer:Client Summary: Our client is a distinguished leader in the energy investment sector, with a dynamic presence in the African market.
