Job Purpose
To lead and manage Nedbank's data integration and data warehousing initiatives, ensuring the effective and efficient flow of data across the enterprise. The Head of Data Integration Data Warehouse will play a pivotal role in driving data driven decision making, enabling business intelligence, and supporting strategic initiatives.
To oversee the architecture, development and implementation of the organisation's data integration (Ingestion and Provisioning), data streaming and robust operational data infrastructure. Ensuring seamless data pipelines to integrate data from various sources and building and managing operational data stores to support real-time decision-making. Work closely with Group Technology and the Business to define and maintain the overall data architecture, develop and manage enterprise data infrastructure and platforms and works with cross-functional teams to ensure that data is used effectively to support business decision-making.
Job Responsibilities
Design and implement data integration strategies and align these initiatives with business objectives.
Build and develop a team of data engineers and Lead Engineers to create a high performing data integration team.
Oversee data quality and consistency. Enforce data standards and quality through the data pipelines. Implement Data Quality into the Data Lake and ensuing Quality built in.
Work closely with Assets and Journeys, engineering, data analytics, data governance and the business in cross functional teams and ensure closer collaboration.
Keep abreast with industry trends, adopting new technologies and ensuring our best practices are world class.
Ensure that the data warehouse and Enterprise data marts are governed and controlled to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and that all regulatory reporting is supported.
Unlock the value of the Nedbank Data Products and driving innovation through data driven practices that supports the commercialisation of Data.
Manage team effectively and efficiently across the HR value chain, including recruitment, performance management, retention of critical staff, succession planning and coaching and talent management.
In collaboration with Group Technology lead the development and maintenance of overall data architecture to align data integration efforts with overall IT strategy.
Oversee and Guide the Design and implement robust data pipelines for various data sources and the selection and management of data integration tools and platforms.
Develop strategies for efficient data integration across the organisation.
Oversee and prioritise the seamless data flow between different systems and applications.
Implement real-time data streaming solutions for operational needs.
Develop efficient processes to extract data from trusted sources systems (Core Banking, Treasury, Trade Finance, Risk Systems etc).
Provide Guidance and manage the transformation of data into standardised format suitable for analysis and reporting.
Implement processes for loading data into the data warehouse and enterprise mart and provisioning data to LoB in a timely and accurate manner.
Build and manage operational data stores for real-time decision support.

Optimise data storage and archiving processes for performance and compliance.
Implement data quality checks and monitoring within integration processes.
Collaborate with business units to understand and meet data integration needs.
Coordinate with other data teams to ensure consistent data management practices.
Manage the build out the Atomic Data Warehouse and ensure the solution is balanced and reconciled.
Ensure the Build of the Data Reservoir and ensure the data is loaded daily and reconciles to source systems.
Manage the Creation of a comprehensive data model that accommodates the diverse data requirements of Basel, AML, IFRS9 and BCBS239.
Ensure clear mappings between source systems and the data warehouse to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
Manage the development and maintenance of a robust meta-data repository to ensure data is documentation, data definitions, lineage and quality is maintained.
Conduct regular data profiling on the data reservoir to identify and address data quality issues.
In collaboration with Data Controls and Data Governance implement processes to ensure data accuracy and completeness through cleansing processes.
Ensure the development and implementation of data validation rules across the ecosystem to maintain data integrity.
Manage the collection and aggregation of data from various sources to meet the regulatory reporting requirements.
Monitor regulatory changes with the business and update the data warehouse accordingly.
Implement audit and rules engines to ensure auditability and governance of regulatory data.
Essential Qualifications - NQF Level
Master's Degree
Preferred Certifications
Professional certifications in data integration, data engineering, or a related field.
Minimum Experience Level
7-10 years of experience in data integration and engineering roles.
Experience in managing a team of data professionals.
Experience in developing and implementing data integration tools and techniques to drive business value.
Experience in working with cross-functional teams.
